I am taking my time writing this review so that if I can help even one family avoid this hotel, my job would be done. Normally I rate rooms on a few things (bed comfort, shower head (don't underestimate a good shower), cleanliness and layout of the room. But this hotel takes my award for worst hotel I've ever stayed at. The lobby is nice enough as is the restaurant (that closes whenever it wants). But it seems like all of the money sunk into this hotel recently stops there. The rooms are in horrific shape and badly in need of a massive overhaul.
The beds are fine, I've had much worse.
The shower head was also not horrible, but not good by any means. I've had much worse. I'm on the shorter side as well and can't imagine anyone over 6' taking a decent shower.
Cleanliness is an issue. The carpet is worn and everything just has a film of dust on it. I didn't want to place any of my toiletries on the bathroom sink from seeing the visible dust on it.
The layout of the hotel room is completely nonsensical. For the space of the room they really used it extremely poorly. There is a giant TV stand and desk with 2 tiny drawers total to put clothing. You cannot push back the TV or lamp on the the TV stand or desk which means you can barely put anything on top of them either. Everything in the room is cramped when it doesn't have to be due to the layout. It didn't help that we HAD TO live out of our suitcase the entire time due to their being no drawers and no countertop space to use.
the air conditioner is easily 30+ years old. The thermostat (newer) can only be set from 70-74. That coupled with not being able to open the window at all makes the room temp stale and unbearable at all times.
THE TOILET. I never thought I would be as annoyed by a toilet in my entire life. The toilet flushes DOWN into the pipe and not AROUND into the pipe (swirling water around). Why does this matter? Any toilet paper that goes into the toilet gets stuck in the toilet because the water doesn't catch the toilet paper. I have never experienced anything like this in my life and there is nothing you can do about it. Also when you flush it's so loud it will wake up anyone in the room with you, so whoever uses the bathroom first in the morning wakes up the entire family.
SHARES A PARKING LOT WITH A CONVENTION CENTER. I stayed here 4 nights and on the 2nd night there was an event at the convention center. It took me 30+ minutes on a Friday night to pull into and get to a parking space (and that was with me blocking oncoming traffic just to get into the hotel). The line of cars that was bumper to bumper heading into the hotel easily dragged on for 90 minutes. When I finally got to the parking lot I also had to park extremely far away (5+ minute walk) due to how many cars were parking. When I got to the hotel lobby there were a dozen plus hotel customers standing around waiting for their family to pull up or an Uber. Everyone was extremely frustrated and complaining to hotel staff, who could do nothing about this. During the same night we decided to eat at the restaurant in the hotel lobby (due to not wanting to wait another 30+ minutes to get into the hotel again) and the restaurant just decided to close 2+ hours earlier than normal for no apparent reason.
The lowest that the TV volume could be set to is 5. Which is pretty annoying and decently loud if you want to watch TV while someone else was sleeping. So whenever the first member of your family wants to sleep that means everyone goes to sleep at the same time. A minor annoyance but again this is 2024, there is no reason for this.
Overall this hotel is the worst hotel I have ever stayed at and makes me question my loyalty to Marriott in the future (I have never stayed in a Marriott and had a remotely bad experience prior to this). If you read this you've been warned. If I can help at least one family avoid this hotel then my time writing this review...
Read moreThis has been the worst Marriott experience. We are here for a dance convention so itâs very busy. I booked a king size room and requested a roll away. I double checked with the front desk before we arrived that we could get a roll away and they confirmed. Upon arrival our room wasnât ready, which was fine. We were told we would be notified when our room was ready. Two hours later I went to check and it was ready, although we were never notified. ||Our room was directly across from the elevators and when I walked in I was shocked at how poorly this hotel was taken care of. It was also so small I knew we couldnât fit a roll away. I called the front desk and was told a roll away wasnât allowed in this room due to it being a fire hazard. I requested a different room where one was allowed and was told the hotel was sold out and they could not switch my room. I reiterated that I needed a roll away to ensure my family had a place to sleep. They then said they could check me out of the hotel and I could find somewhere else to stay but I would be charged the $700 for the room regardless. They were unwilling to help in any way to provide not only a comfortable stay but an appropriate one where we are not sleeping on the floor of a dirty room while paying a ridiculous amount. With no other options, we had to stay in the room. ||In addition to the room being expensive and tiny, it was honestly disgusting. My toddler found a used tissue on top of the headboard (ew), a ridiculous amount of dust everywhere, peeling paint, a non working AC, a door that didnât close, a disgusting coffee maker, a broken lightâŚthe list goes on. I had to buy a blow up mattress so my kid could sleep on the floor of this disgusting room. I had to call 2 times to get an extra blanket and sheets. They brought sheets and no blanket. Had to call again, waited and eventually gave up and asked house cleaning when they walked by. Had to call 2 times to get an extra towel. Then the lock on the door wouldnât go back into the mechanism. Asked a worker who happened to be outside the door at the time. He couldnât fix so he called engineering. We waited. No one came. I called and was told they were coming. Waited more and again no one came. My daughter was about to perform so I made the choice to leave the room open (with all of our stuff inside) so I could watch her at the convention center. Missed half her performance, ran back to the room and it still wasnât fixed. Called again and waited until someone finally came to fix. This entire experience was terrible and such an incredible waste of money. Hope Marriott does something to...
Read moreI had booked two rooms during a vacation with my family to universal studios Thursday night to Sunday. The front desk was very professional and tried to be accommodating as much as possible.unfortunately, they just could not fix incident after incident. The lobby area is very nice however, when we checked in our rooms we noticed they are less than average not what I expected for a Marriott. One of our comforters in the first room had brown stains on it and one of the phones in the second room was broken. The second day I used the Marriott app to request extra towels and toilet paper after 30 mins I called the front desk to make the request, an hour later and nothing. I had to go out myself and ran into a cleaning lady to grab the items I had requested from her. We left for the majority of the day and come back to our room that was not cleaned at all. Apparently, a cleaner didn't show up for work so they decided to just skip our room completely. I called to ask why it wasn't cleaned and they offered to send someone up but when its almost 9 at night it almost inconvenient to be in the way of a cleaning and asked to just please send someone the next day. With the hotel being connected to the convention center parking is IMPOSSIBLE makes the $21 parking fee just sound ridiculous when it takes about 15 mins to just find an open spot, expect to park nearly off the property. During our stay the event being held at the convention center was a 10 year AA anniversary that I wish we would have been informed about. I was on a family vacation with my little sisters and niece and if I would have known random guests from the AA anniversary were given the privilege to roam the hotel properties I would have NEVER booked this hotel. The Marriott was providing coffee and the made lobby restroom room public to the convention guests that made our stay feel very uncomfortable. We were trying to take advantage of movie night at the pool when my sisters asked to just leave after they felt uncomfortable since the pool is in open view from the convention center to the lobby. Before going up to our rooms I figured I would use the lobby restroom and as I walk into one of the stalls their was blood on the floor being 6 months pregnant I was just disgusted at that point and couldn't wait to pack my bags on head out. If you need a quick one night stay near the airport sure take the bullet. If you are looking for a nice hotel for a vacation...
