We have done all three escape rooms and had a wonderful time with haunted hotel and the presidents bunker. We even made the monthly leader board for both rooms when we completed them last year.
Unfortunately, “Mountain Top Murders” was extremely poorly run. It used an iPad which was new to us at this facility. Right away, our ipad was frozen and did not start counting down. There was a glitch in one of the puzzles, and even though we had done all the components, the door did not open. When we went to ask for a hint, the ipad was giving us clues that we had already solved and were no longer applicable. When I popped my head out to ask, the game master said “these hints don’t count” and “they are just catching up to where you are”. It took us 10 minutes to receive a relevant clue. And finally he came into the room to fix the puzzle. We then needed another clue later and the same hint glitch happened where the clues were no longer applicable and we were given clues to completed puzzles. Clearly someone was giving us clues from another location.. and each incorrect clue took about a minute to come through.
Unfortunately, these glitches ate a lot of our time. At the end, I brought up our concerns and the game master said “I don’t know what to tell you.” I asked if there was someone we could talk to because we paid a lot of money for a room that was not working. He said “you can talk to me about it”. But clearly, he was uninterested in helping or rectifying the situation. It felt like, “ha ha… already got your money.”
If all the rooms use these iPads now, I do not recommend this location. Otherwise, steer clear of Mountain Top Murders.
It was especially disappointing because I had been telling our friends how great this company was. I was embarrassed I let them spend...
Read moreWhat an amazing time! We are relatively new to escape rooms and this place was great for beginners. First and foremost we were greeted at the door by our assigned employee, Shayla. She was so welcoming and polite to us, especially our son.
Once in the waiting room, Shayla guided us through the waiver process and let us explore the waiting area until our game started. What set this place apart from the other two places we have been was this waiting area.
There were a lot of hidden games and activities to prepare you for the challenge ahead. This is great for new players and kids, as it gets you thinking and builds confidence as you head into your escape room. It was especially helpful for our 9 year old son.
Once in the room, Shayla explained everything clearly and answered any questions we had. The game itself was really well done and we had a ton of fun in the process. We did have to use a few hints, but given we were a smaller team compared to most, we were completely happy with the experience.
We highly recommend this business for families and people looking to partake in team building activities. Additionally, Shayla was very helpful by taking our family pictures at the end. We had such a pleasant experience, we decided to go back the next day (a significant discount b t w if you so choose).
Sidebar…this place was very, very clean and all the...
Read moreWe had a good experience with the escape room, but a terrible experience with the company. A promotion was being run for half price tickets when we went on a Monday evening, but we were unable to "select" this promotion on the website when booking. We tried to sort things out when we arrived in person, but our host was unable to make any changes to our reservation herself. She suggested I call the next day. I did so, and was referred to yet another person. They promised to "bring it up to corporate headquarters" to see what could be done. Several months and many phone calls later -- no response, no calls back, no money back. This escape room is run by a national chain that is 100% unreachable and unaccountable. If you have the option of supporting a locally run escape room instead, I'd recommend you go there instead.
UPDATE 11/16/22: I received a follow up from Cody to remediate the situation above. I appreciated his response and efforts to address the challenges we...
