We had a great dining experience at Vermont Pub and Brewery! We arrived a few minutes before they opened and someone popped outside to let us know they’d be right with us. We were seated at a table by the window, which was nice since we were just visiting the area for the first time and could look around a little. Our waiter was friendly and attentive, and to be quite honest, everyone was. If someone walked past and saw that there were plates to clear, an empty glass, or it looked like you needed something, they jumped right in. They run like a well-oiled machine, especially considering how quickly they fill up and are busy. Everything was delicious, but we all agree that the star of the show for us was the poutine! Rich gravy and ooey gooey cheese curds atop a bed of crispy fries…annnnd we added bacon. Just a plate full of YUM! (I’m pretty sure the table behind us immediately ordered a second plate as soon as they finished theirs.) We also ordered the light, fluffy pretzel bites, which came with a perfect portion of both cheese sauce and grain mustard. My shepherd’s pie was hearty and extremely flavorful. I am an eater and I got two meals out of it. It was perfect comfort food on what was a rainy, somewhat chilly afternoon and I love that they use local ingredients that we could then try. I don’t remember the name of my beer, but it was raspberry and it was delightful! Hubs got the toad in the hole and really enjoyed it, again getting to try a unique combo of local ingredients AND getting two meals out of it while being a good eater. From start to finish, we enjoyed our experience and would absolutely eat here again…and you can bet we’ll be starting with that poutine!!

The Vermont Pub and Brewery (VPB) was a great find for us while we were walking around Burlington VT. We searched Google and did not see the Vermont Pub and Brewery listed and were glad we walked by to find it. We were able to get a seat right away on a Friday at this location after walking in many restaurants in the area with long wait times. It's listed on Google, but you have to zoom in to find it. The restaurant gives off a pub vibe and there are many seating options either at a table or the large bar. There is also an outdoor seating area which was not occupied because it was February in Vermont, but it looked nice. After being seated a waitress came over to take our orders quickly. They have a good menu with normal Pub food and other unique items. We ordered the Pickle Chips, the Vermont Cheese Plate, Beer Cheese Dip, and a VPB Classic: Toad in the Hole. All the did was great and the cheese plate and the Toad in the Hole was my favorite. There is a large beer selection and I enjoyed a flight with four samples for $6. Everything on the menu is reasonably priced and is a good value in my opinion. If you are in downtown Burlington, I highly recommend stopping in to the VPB for great food and a nice pub style atmosphere.

Food and service were delicious! We stopped in for an afternoon bite and brews. We split a poutine which was one of the best I've had. Scratch made gravy makes the difference. Everything here is house made and you can taste the difference. We also split a toad in the hole. First time having this and while unique the apple chutney was a bit overpowering to the flavors of the dish. All the flavor profiles were delicious but I might have paired it with something a little less acidic. The brews are unique mainly because they are unpasteurized and unfiltered. I enjoyed the azaccalaga and the marzen. Both mild lagers. Not overly hoppy. The process makes the flavors a bit more "muddy" but that's a good thing. The flavors sit on your tongue and linger for a bit. Hubby has the sour Seymour Brett's. It was described light and mildly tart with zero pucker. Refreshing. Bill before tip was $55.20

What an awful waste of money from start to finish. It's a nice-looking place, so you get excited; then let down in every other respect. Not even a shred of pride in your work.

Failed to make the lone, 2-ingredient drink we asked for. Undercooked 2 burgers and overcooked the other. Improper charges and even when they did fix the ticket they charged us for soda waters. I've never been charged for soda water and I would have at least appreciated you obtain consent. Less than half full restaurant and still couldn't figure out when to take our orders and when to return with waters or appetizers. The timing was awkward, made even more so when 1 of the 3 servers who randomly switched out during the meal stood their staring at us and then walked away after taking the appetizer order and waiting plenty of time to order mains. The lady who fixed our ticket, presumably the manager, was snippy even though we tried to be polite and reassure them we weren't upset with them.

We ordered waters, one soda water, and one soda-with-cranberry. They brought us cranberry juice and soda water...separately - to mix at the table. Then charged us for 3 soda waters and a cranberry juice. So they overcharged and charged for a drink they forced us to make ourselves and a drink we didn't order.

We asked for 2 medium done burgers that came out just under medium-rare and one medium-rare that came out well done with random clumps of raw beef in it.

The hummus plate had over ripe veggies on it. The serving portions could easily be described as sparse.

Let's just also note the owner is obviously a cheapskate. Anyone who automatically charges a "kitchen appreciation" fee or some such does not pay their employees well enough and inflames the cost on the ticket instead. I do not apologize, I did not appreciate the kitchen in this experience and I do not feel they deserve extra patronage without my consent for their failure to complete one of the most basic orders to basic specifications. We literally had two of the exact same food orders with no deviations from their menu at all and they still did it wrong.

This is supported by the ridiculous price of the "specials" and the other menu items. You can get a very well done salmon dinner for less than their...

This place needs a restaurant rescue.

It was my girlfriend’s birthday and we hadn’t been downtown for dinner in sometime. So on a Saturday night at a quarter past 6 we walked into the Vermont Pub and Brewery. It was slamming busy. From the moment we entered there were people everywhere and servers were buzzing about. After checking in at the hostess stand and being told it would be about 20-20 minutes for a table we accepted the blue electronic table pager. We squeezed into a couple of stools in the bar area and studied the enormous menu. The pager went off after about 15 minutes and we were seated. But the seating was terribly cramped. The adjoining table was right on top of us. Every time someone got up they bumped into my girlfriend. Anyhow, we ordered 2 Cajun Calamari’s for an appetizer when our waiter took our drink orders. The calamari arrived and I guess I was thankful for the little oil fired lamp that provided barely any light to us. The calamari was a small, meager portion fried in oil that had seen better days. The squid was dark and oily. I’m going to say in addition to the contaminated fry oil that whoever cooked the squid did not let the oil get back up to the required 350 degrees cooking temperature. The glut of oil on the plates would have qualified for EPA superfund status. Now, on to the entrees. I had order the grilled salmon with a double side of Béarnaise, broccoli and garlic mashed potatoes. My dining companion had order the Greek prepared scrod with sweet potato fries. My salmon was actually pretty OK. It was grilled properly and flavorful. The sides were problematic. I was the served horseradish mashed not the garlic that was ordered and all the sides were ice cold. The dish served to my girlfriend had issues as well. About one third of the scrod portion was laid out side of the baking dish. It had become molded to the side of the dish during the baking and was completely dried out and inedible. The sweet potato fries were the only saving grace to the dinner. They and the honey mustard dressing were both very good. With tip we were out of there for $65.00. It was a disappointing meal and service. I would advise you to look elsewhere if you want more than...

Wow...it's rare that a place is so bad that it necessitates an immediate Friday night review to warn the next patrons. It was chilly today and after showing our son around Burlington and Church Street, we were looking for an early dinner, a little representation of Vermont, and something memorable for him to take home to Oklahoma. The score after dinner at The Vermont Pub & Brewery: BTV 0 OKC 1. While we appreciated having to present vaccine cards and wear masks, the VPB proved to be an impulsive and unfortunate choice at 5:00 on a Friday. Yes, it was chilly outside, but inside the VPB, the temps were just as cold. We took an interior table on the warning that sitting by the windows might be cold, but we should have guessed from the few people at the central bar with jackets and hats on, that something was amiss. Even more disturbing (and reported to our server) was the fact that there was no hot water (or even lukewarm water) in the men's restroom. I hoped none of the employees had to use the facilities and wondered how they were washing up before returning to prepare or serve food. Oh...the food. The Brew Fries with Beer Cheese dip arrived cold. The dip, too, was lumpy and not even warm. Fried pickles came out piping hot, but were nothing unique. We ordered two soups with our appetizers -- and had to send both back because they were cold. Across the table, our son was adventurous with the Fish and Chips -- listed as a VPB "Classic." He immediately proclaimed after one bite, that he was surprised the fish in Vermont was so terrible that even Oklahoma fish was better. A cursory exam and taste of the fish proved him right -- rubbery and bland with a touch of freezer burn would be the best description. We quickly bailed on the remains of appetizers and soups, stepped outside to warm up, and headed up the street to have dinner. NB: while the food was atrocious, the service was not necessarily bad -- just somewhat aloof. Our poor server had a grin and bear it attitude and even seemed like she was freezing while she tried to take our order. She was baffled by the lack of hot water in the washroom, which no one ultimately addressed. It seems like a Burlington Health Department issue that might be worth...
