My husband's phone was mistakenly left on the outside of the truck and it made it about 9 miles from our house and 3 miles on the highway before it ended up on the ground. We were on the side of the highway that night in the dark searching around for his phone before we found it. The screen was cracked and broken and the corners of the phone were skinned up but it still came on. Samsung told us to take the phone to Ubreakifix. We live in Martinsville, VA and this store is over an hour away from us. Samsung quoted us a price to fix the phone if we sent it back to them so we had a reference. Before we drove out to Burlington, I stopped by a local screen repair place and the guy wanted $70 more than what Samsung would have charged us. So, we waited until this Ubreakifix store opened to call and get a price and make sure they had the parts in stock. Thankfully, the stars aligned and we ended up in Burlington. The gentleman in the store we spoke to was the owner. He told us all that was involved and I was a little set back-no one had mentioned all of that. But really, whatever needs to be done...it's gotta get fixed.
The phone repair took awhile longer than we were anticipating because there were issues with getting Samsung's software to go what needed to be done. Unfortunately, they had to do an essential factory reset on the phone to make Samsung's software to work and unfortunately, my husband has something like 18-million pics on his phone that weren't saved on the memory card so the poor guy at the repair store had to wait while Google backed up the pics which added a good while to the whole process. There was a concern that we would be past closing time getting this done but the owner assured me that he would stay open until this was done.
Anyway, phone is fixed. They charged less than Samsung quoted us. The phone is perfect now and it seems like it's pretty much brand new because, in order to repair the screen, they had to replace the battery and the glass and the LCD display...
The gentleman seemed to go above and beyond to get this worked out for us. I wasn't in the greatest of moods when we got there because of other circumstances...but I'm feeling much better now that we finally have his phone back...and knowing that the repair was done correctly and completely. If the owner of the company ever reads this review, please know that we are both super grateful to you for fixing his phone and for staying open to get it done today and saving us from making the trip again tomorrow. And please know how grateful we are that you bothered with backing up his stuff as opposed to just wiping the phone clean and handing it back to us like that. It certainly would have been the easy way out and it would have saved about 2 hours of time but you didn't take the easy way out.
We've had smartphones since 2013 and we've had...6 between the 2 of us and we've never broken or cracked a screen. Neither one of us knew what was involved in this whole process and we're glad it's behind us at this point. I hope we never need you guys again...but if we do ever break another screen, we'll be headed your...
Read moreI recently cracked the glass on my Google Pixel 2XL. Honestly I was concerned more about water damage than the glass/OLED ($230 problem vs. $1,000 problem). This company is an authorized by google for repair services and I was encouraged by the positive reviews. I happened to be in the area and arrived around 6:30pm before their schedule closing time of 7pm. I showed the front desk person my phone and he told me he'd have to go ask what they could do. Having worked in restaurants and retail in the past, I approached the situation very directly and honestly hoping to get some help even though time was tight. Well, I could clearly hear someone from the back say "ABSOLUTELY NOT THAT'S A TWO HOUR JOB." Uhhhh, wrong. I've already researched what has to be done: 7-8 min on a hot plate to release the adhesive, remove two screws securing the display connection, replace with new display, apply adhesive, seal it up, done. A person, whose name I later learned was Jake, came back up to explain all the reasons they couldn't help me. I asked if I could just buy the part since my home is more than an hour from any uBreakiFix location. Of course the answer was no (which I understand the limitations from google). The only options presented were to leave the phone or come back tomorrow. Shortly into this conversation he called "the boss" to see how long mailing the phone back would take. Trying to evaluate my options, I asked for a minute to think about it. I did a quick search online to see if I could by the part (you can't) and quickly realized I was stuck. My last ditch effort was to ask him if I could pay him directly for his time to get this thing fixed now. By this time it's 6:40pm and we've wasted 10 minutes talking about all the reasons I can't be helped. Resigned to the fact that Jake had already made up his mind, I advised him to consider the difference been "can't help" and "won't help" before leaving. Truth is, Jake had already made up his mind before he even heard what I had to say. Considering the way this business promotes their walk-in services I was disappointed with this reception. The next day I drove another 1.5hrs to the East Charlotte location and Diego was able to fix my phone in about 30 minutes with no fuss. Thanks for...
Read moreI went in to this with not knowing what to expect, but came out more than satisfied. I was blown away. Rarely does customer service impress me, as I work in that field, but when it does...wow.
I had a growing cracked screen for an iPhone 11 Pro Max that was making it less & less possible to use my phone so something had to be done. The service was offered to fix my phone at my place of employment (where my phone is vital to my day to day tasks). I was nervous about whether my appointment was going to show, whether it was going to be fixed, & the quality of that experience.
Joe, from uBreakiFix showed up right on time / early to the appointment, & was polite, professional & fast (And also a pro as I soon find out) He asked about the damage to my device, explained what fixing it would entail, & even potential risks, regardless of the odds. That was so refreshing. I value that kind of honesty in customer service above all else.
If something goes wrong, or could, tell me up front, regardless of the odds. Joe let me know that there was a small chance due to the damage, that it could not work because of hardware issues & if not what to do. He didn't for-see it happening, but wanted to be fully transparent. Joe explained it would be about 20 minutes (Again, I'm impressed that it's much quicker than the 1-2 hours I I was quoted from Verizon).
Out of the gate before Joe has even started, I'm so impressed at the presentation, information, & keeping me in the loop, that I would have frankly been OK if things went for a turn for the worst with my phone.
Not even 15 minutes later I see Joe walking to my office with my phone, fixed & fully functional...Again...wow.
If anyone ever needs to get anything fixed I HIGHLY urge anyone to ask for this gentleman. With this being the first time I had to have my phone fixed, it has completely changed the perception I had about this process.
I know if I need ANYTHING fixed, I'm calling these guys & I hope that their employee Joe is available, because I know it's going to done swiftly, & correctly. This guy needs a raise, & this place has got my full respect & with be referring any customers to them I...
