Schooner Surprise — Attraction in Camden

Fantastic Experience! My wife Dianne and I were in Camden for our 33rd anniversary and we are SO glad that we did not miss this experience:

The boat is absolutely gorgeous!, and has an "old world" feel to it; small enough to feel some "ocean spray", but large enough to accommodate a nice group of folks to share the experience with -- and that we did!

Ramiro & Nichole (Owners & Crew) are very friendly, and personalized the experience by getting to know us, (where we were from, etc...) and because Nichole is a Camden native, she has great advice on what else to do while in the area. Ramiro even channeled a little "Jack Sparrow" for us, but I'll let you figure out what I mean by that yourselves! They even allowed us to 'raise the sails' and 'steer the ship'.

I could go on, but suffice it to say that if you can only do 1 thing in Camden, this should be it! Our "Schooner Surprise" tour of Penobscot Bay has been the highlight of our stay here to this point. In fact, if we have time, we are going to do it again.

We had a really positive experience booking and sailing on the Surprise. We booked for the next day, and when the weather was a little crappy the morning-of, we got a prompt phone call to either reschedule to a later sailing (which we chose) or refund our purchase. I'm glad we were able to reschedule, because the trip itself was excellent - not a "tour" exactly, but we heard a ton about the boat herself, the local goings-on, and major highlights of the coastline. Absolutely wonderful excursion! We ended up being the only party booked and, surprisingly to me, they didn't cancel and took us out anyway. There were only 5 of us on an essentially private charter. It was a magnificent trip. The captain and the other crew member were so friendly and answered all our questions. We didn't see any wildlife except for loons, but it was a lovely sail. My mom's birthday was the day we were on board and they gifted her a beautiful print of the schooner in front of the lighthouse. It was a delightful surprise and I'm so grateful for this company to make my mom's day so...
