Hello my fellow travelers. I love a good Italian cuisine. Sadly this wasn’t. The place inside is small, and it needs serious change of colors and good scrubbing. But, let’s talk about the food itself because it is the most important factor in a restaurant. I went to the counter to order pizza Margarita, the owner looked at me and said something like: you do know that pizza Margarita is not a cheese pizza. Are you sure you know the difference? I was taken off guard because this is the first time happen to me. So I told him of course I know. He didn’t stop there, he continued: pizza Maragrita is made of… before he continue, I said mozzarella, basil on tomato sauce on a thin crust… I told him, I told you I know because I had it when I was in Italy. I wanted to add, did you? He looked at me and in his discriminating and arrogant mind he assumed that I don’t know what I am talking about. So when he brought the pizza- although I knew- I asked him where are you from, he said Boston. no, I asked him, your ancestors? He said Ireland. Oh good I thought, an Irish background making Italian food. I have met many people in my life who underestimate me so, till this point all can be overlooked only if the pizza was good. But it wasn’t!!! That was a shock after the lecture he gave me, he himself didn’t get it right. The sauce is raw and bland and not made properly. It is made American way not Italian or Mediterranean way, the sauce lacking the delicious acidity of the tomato. Also the cheese is not distributed correctly such that two of the sectors have no cheese. An advise to the owner: take a time off, travel to Milan, Rome or Florence and try the pizza there, because what you serve is not Italian, widen your horizon. If Italy far and expensive then you can take a trip to Portsmouth NH, I tried Margarita there and it was very good, not as in Italy but...
Read moreThis review is based solely on the interaction I had with the staff at the store. I haven’t tried the food yet but if the food is as excellent as their staff, I’m in for a treat. I placed an order on DoorDash. A dasher accepted the order and then cancelled. I knew the restaurant was closing and I was worried the dasher wouldn’t get there before the restaurant closed. I contacted DoorDash but there wasn’t anything they could do beyond getting a new delivery driver which only pushed back the delivery time. I called the restaurant and they were so kind. They have the food ready and it was being kept warm and they assured me they would stay until the order was picked up. They were not angry. In fact, they really were cool about it. I hate that my order caused them to have to stay late and I’m extremely thankful that they did and they did it with a great attitude. Unfortunately, I didn’t catch the name of the employee but I hope the owner sees this and recognizes their employee so he gets the credit he deserves. Thank you Camden House of Pizza for hiring quality staff ♥️
Edit- we have received our meal and it is delicious!! My fiancé is Italian and he loved it! He’s had the same meal in Italy and he said this ranks up there with the...
Read moreGot into town late and had dinner here with my fiancé and her family. My fiancé and her family are Puerto Rican (that will factor here in a moment). We walked in and sat down, not realizing they were about to close. The tables placed their orders, I went up to the counter to order tira mi su and a Moxie (interesting drink). After we got our food and drinks, in the middle of our meal, the owner came to check and make sure we paid for our drinks. He claimed we had too many drinks. Meanwhile plenty of other customers (Caucasian of ethnicity, like myself) came in, picked up orders, and grabbed drinks. He didn’t question any of them. Several times when I glanced over at the counter, we were being intensely watched. Was it because we were tourists who came in close to closing to have a meal after a long day of travel? Or was it because we were a majority group of Latin Americans, and he was worried we were trying to take more than what we paid for? I’ll let the owner comment in the reply, if he has the...
