5 stars for the rooftop. Food was average. Have definitely had better lobster rolls on the main drag of Camden - but I’m seeing tons of great reviews about food quality, so maybe this was an off day.
Honestly I wouldn’t have bothered writing a review at all but the customer service was really awful. We’re tourists, like many of their customers I’m assuming, and have noticed that Maine service is not on the super friendly side, but this was beyond. The male manager/owner (not sure) treated us like inconveniences despite us buying almost $100 worth of food and drinks. One person in our party tried to go upstairs to see if there were any rooftop tables available. We were yelled at to stop and wait for him to tell us it was okay. Totally fine to have COVID procedures but you can still have good customer service and manners - I know, I work in restaurants. My mother was also yelled at for pushing her mask to the side for less than 5 seconds to answer her phone, which she ignored ultimately. Again, safety first, but there’s a way to ensure safety and not make your guests feel unwelcome. The boat captains in Camden Harbor have been doing it for years. The irony is that they were completely out of hand sanitizer and did not provide napkins when the food was brought to us. Also trash was overflowing upstairs where we bussed our plates. So priorities were a little skewed. Just a really unwelcoming experience and I’m assuming/hoping it was an off day. And again, I shouldn’t have to qualify my review, but my entire family works in restaurants - during COVID - and understands that health is a priority, but would never dare treat...
Read moreI went to get food at 540 and the woman would not make any hot sandwiches this was Thursday March 31. This one lady was rude and would not fill my order when it was only 2 sandwiches. You are open till 6 meaning your serving hot sandwiches till then bit this woman would not. I would find her a hindering to your company and would fire her since she is more worried about going home early than helping a customer. It was really annoying because I was craving your fantastic focaccia sandwich which is my favorite. It really disappoints me that you have workers that treat your customers this way.I just tried going here again this time they were out of chicken and evidently focaccia bread too but she didn't tell me and gave me a hoagie roll and nothing but attitude the whole time.I used to come all the time when I was in high school and never had any issues I order what I alway order the fantastic focaccia and 1 other sandwiche then came back to pay and one of the workers asked me about the review and to take it down like I'm in the wrong I'm sure she messed up my sandwich out of spite because it was the same lady I apologized and told them I had a really rough day and they seemed more concerned about their reviews than the customer it seems they have their friends to boost ratings lol or people with multiple accounts lol about their review than the customer boy who I happened to be Facebook messengers with also asked me to take it down then I...
Read moreI’m sort of mixed, when it comes to this establishment. On one hand, my experience has been that the eating areas are usually clean, and there are staff constantly clearing, wiping, and straightening seats and tables. The beautiful view of Camden Harbor is also a plus. The staff behind the counter have always been friendly and professional whenever I’ve been in there. I have had many tasty crab rolls there over the years, however, it seems to be hit or miss when it comes to food consistency. Sometimes you get a fair amount of crab meat on the roll, sometimes not. Some of the desserts are very good, and others are bland and make you wonder why you spent the money. All in all, it’s a deli, on Camden Harbor, so I expect it to be a tad on the pricey side. I only wish the consistency was better for that price. I’ve left many times, full and satisfied, and also left a number of times wishing I had done something different for lunch. I guess if you just want a quick, simple deli sandwich and a bag of chips, you can’t really go wrong, but if you are expecting to be wowed by anything more sophisticated...hot menu items, desserts, etc., you may want to hold off until dinner. In many ways it definitely is convenient, seeing as how Boynton-McKay across the street has limited hours. I’ll probably go back for many of the positives I’ve noted above, while keeping in mind that I’m really only there to grab a sandwich...
