I knew we had made a mistake the minute we arrived in what is advertised as an “attractively appointed” room. The wallpaper and baseboards were full of stains, the wallpaper in the bathroom was peeling off the wall, the bathtub had mold in the edges where it met the tub enclosure. The bed sheets were wrinkled and didn’t look clean and there was actually a 2” screw lodged between the sheet and the mattress (no mattress pad) that my husband found when he got into bed. One side of the shutter type blind was not functional. The room smelled of must and mildew. The carpeting, although in good shape, did not appear to have been vacuumed and the hallway was just as bad. The carpeting down the the stairs between first and second floors was very dirty. The towels looked gross and were stained. Cleaning buckets, mops, painting equipment, rollaway beds are stored in the hallways and are a real eyesore. The front entrance door is left propped wide open all day long, including into the evening hours, when no staff members seem to be on the property after 6:00 p.m. Any person, or animal for that matter, can walk right in. A definite security risk. Considering that our 2-night stay cost us $440, we were totally ripped off. Beware that this property looks nothing like the...
Read moreThe hotel is in a convenient location, and though lacking much architectural style, it has the possibility to be very charming on the exterior and in the lobby with a few design touches. But sadly, it was a very uncomfortable stay in so many ways. I guess it depends on the room you get - ours was more of a thrift store hodge podge of furniture than the website photos make it appear. The room was not inexpensive, so I guess I expected more and felt a little resentment about the value. (even knowing coastal Maine is very expensive in general) On the plus side, there was a nice coffee and water stand close to the room, a big TV, and the mattress and water pressure in the shower was decent. There were nice shutters, and you could open the windows for fresh air. As for cons, there was thick shag carpet with stains, dingy wall coverings, cheap fixtures, and it was super annoying trying to get ready with a tiny little pedestal sink outside of the bathroom. The housekeeper tidied the room in a very odd way - I'm not sure why they bothered. So overall, it was a lot of money for what it was - and because everything pretty much closes by 9 pm in Camden - you do spend a lot of time in your room. So, I learned having a nice ambiance...
Read moreThis was the first Inn I stayed at and I loved it! I will say it was a little rough checking in. I was checking in late and I called to inform the front desk. The first lady who helped me was extremely nice and accommodating. However, I had to call back because I was coming even later than I anticipated and this time a man answered and he was not as nice. He ended up hanging up on me because he was in the middle of helping another guest and seemed a little agitated to talk to me. A simple, "Can you please hold" would have went a LONG way. Had I not had that conversation with him, this place would be 5/5 all around. All of the OTHER staff were really nice and helpful. Even after hours, I was still able to have all of my needs met. I traveled with family and they stayed at a nearby hotel paying double what I payed and I am confident, I had the better experience. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone and the next time I come to Camden, I will be staying here! I just hope that man has learned a little professionalism, OR I do not have to...
