We were very excited to try this restaurant for the first time. We stay in the area every year to celebrate my husband’s birthday. The reviews were very good. I had called them ahead to let them know we would be celebrating my husband’s birthday and asked if they could surprise him with a lit candle with dessert. When we arrived, the hostess was moderately friendly and commented, “I see we have a birthday tonight. Which one of you has a birthday?” That immediately put my husband on notice I had something up my sleeve. There went the surprise! My husband is allergic to some shellfish . He was interested in the stew which said it had a coconut milk base. He asked to swap the lobster for more mussels . Waitress said ok and later stated the cook said the broth had lobster juice in it so he had to choose something else . I would have expected a restaurant of this nature (touting fresh ingredients) to be able to whip up a batch of stew without lobster juice. The stew was around $32!
We both ended up trying the vegetarian dish which we did not enjoy. It was smothered in sauce . It was also very overpriced at $25 apiece. The waitress brought us two small pieces of bread accompanied with red vinegar. She did not tell us anything about the bread or why it was served with vinegar . She did not offer butter or olive oil if we did not care for vinegar. We later learned there were two specials, both of which my husband could have eaten and enjoyed. Waitress never mentioned the specials. (We did not notice them written on a sandwich board at the entrance.)
I ordered one dessert (selection was not very good) mostly so we could celebrate my husband’s birthday. The waitress brought it with a lit candle, set it down and said “Happy Birthday” with little enthusiasm.
It was a $100 night that ended in disappointment . We enjoy good food and friendly staff. We consider eating out in this type of venue an “experience” we...
Read moreI loved this restaurant so much that I ate here 2 of my 4 nights in Camden. They have such a wonderful menu that changes often. I ate outside each of my 2 times. They have a global menu that was very appealing including dishes from Brazil and Africa. The Spitzers were very refreshing. On my first visit I had the Marcequa (spelling) which was basically a stew with Haddock, shrimp and mussels in a coconut lime broth with jasmine rice and tomatoes. I loved it so much I went back another night. The whole menu looks great. The service was excellent. The only issue that I had was that my dish was priced on the menu as $35 but rang up as $38. When I pointed it out, they said that the menu changes (but the price??) and he didn’t offer to get the manager or anything. It still was great and if ever in the area, I’d go back!! Things to note- Prices vary between menu and receipt. Bread and butter costs $4. The spritzers and the food are excellent!! Service...
Read moreWonderful experience; great food, service, and ambiance. My wife and I stopped by Fresh and Co. right when they opened, at 4pm. We sat at the bar in order to take advantage of their happy hour offerings. Everything we ordered was hot and delicious. We ordered the truffle fries, Korean BBQ wings, and brussel sprouts off of the happy hour menu. The brussel sprouts were right up there with the best I've ever had. The fries and wings were also very tasty. In addition, we ordered up one dinner, the brazilian seafood stew, Moqueca. the stew was steaming, and heaping with large shrimp, tender fish, and tasty mussels. It was fantastic. Our bartender (sorry I didn't catch her name) could not have been more engaging and helpful. She not only informed us thoroughly about the alcohol offerings, she provided a lot of insight about the food offerings. Overall,...
