We stopped in here while on vacation to get dessert. There were probably no more than 5 tables seated in the entire restaurant. We asked to be seated outside - and we were the only table occupied outside. Almost 20 minutes later, someone finally walks out and is cleaning tables. We mention to her that no one has been out to take our order. She says she'll get someone and goes inside. 15 minutes later a server comes out and asks if anyone has been out take our order. We say no. He apologized and took our order. Dessert was fine and we asked for the check. Server goes inside - and disappears. I go inside. This guy is nowhere to be found. No one else knows where he is. Understandably, I'm less than pleased. I really don't have over an hour to blow on a piece of pie. An employee asks if I'd like to talk to the manager.
Here's where it gets good. I was very stern with speaking with her about how they missed every opportunity that a service oriented company has to give a guest a good experience.
She then goes on to tell me, "I don't appreciate you coming at me like this." I was simply stating everything that had gone wrong. When I saw that she couldn't understand anything I was saying, we decided to walk away. At that point, she decided to have the last word and childishly, with a sarcastic whine, said "Have a nice day."
Lesson 1: When you're a manger, you're responsible for everything that goes on at your location, good or bad. Lesson 2: Managers are supposed to deflate the situation, not exacerbate it and intentionally fan the flames. Sea Dog needs to seriously consider who they put in their management positions because this person has clearly shown that she is not a manager.
I tried contacting the company directly, but they have no phone number on their website, only a web form. I filled out the form. No response. Then I called another location and got a number for corporate. They said I could speak to HR because they don't have a District Manger or someone over the restaurants. I left two messages. No return call. Only after repeated attempts to contact their corporate office with no communication did I decide to leave this review.
If Sea Dog has no mechanism to allow customers to contact them regarding issues and do not return phone calls, it's no wonder they allow someone like this to...
Read moreI’m visiting my mother for a few days (I live in Florida). I was super excited to go to Sea Dog because I love their beer. But this experience was really disappointing. I want to start by saying back home I’m a server, and I left the our server over 20% tip. The Host was very nice and helpful, my mother and I sat at the bar. The woman waiting on us was alright, a bit awkward. My mom and I ordered French onion soup, French fries, onion rings, and the Ahi Tuna. And I got a beer (which was great, I love their beer). When the food runners dropped the food the server didn’t come check to see if we wanted another round or to see if the food came out alright. My beer was almost done and my moms water was empty. The ahi tuna was thick cut and over cooked, it looked awful, the fries were over salted and soggy. The soup was good, but it’s hard to mess up soup. My mom had to call the server over to send back the tuna, and the server seemed a bit annoyed by that. She offered to replace the meal and my mom got the bang bang shrimp, she said it was alright. While my mom sent the tuna back, a man who I’m assuming was a manager or higher up was talking to some people he seemed to know at the bar, he heard us complain about the food and never came to check on us. Definitely a tourist place, the food is not worth it at all. Maybe stop by and get a beer, but the service isn’t great either so I wouldn’t waste my time. I’m really disappointed that I wasted a meal and my money there on my vacation. I’m only leaving this review so that other people visiting don’t waste their time and money. I don’t know why the everyone in the restaurant didn’t seem to care about the experience except for the host. Back home if I acted like that at work I would never...
Read moreI've never had an experience quite like the one I did at the Sea Dog Brewing Co.
From the very moment of entry I had a gut feeling of concern, but I decided to give it a shot anyway.
Upon entry we stood in a line at the hostess station for a good 5 minutes before being added to a wait list.
Upon being seated my group was asked immediately what we wanted to order, the online menu did not match the paper menu & we had no idea what we wanted.
After telling the waitress we needed a moment she proceeded to leave us with two waters & didn't come back for 30 mins (after she saw we pulled out our parking ticket to see how long we had before we had to pay for more time).
The next time we saw anyone was 45 minutes later when we received what they decided was our food. We did not receive what we ordered at all, as I ordered the nachos with beef chili & received veggie nachos, and my husband ordered a Cobb salad & received a Cesar salad.
My husband also got a flight of beers to try out different flavors & had wanted a pint to go with his meal, but our waitress didn't come back during the meal. We actually didn't see her for roughly an hour.
My nachos were so spicy I needed more water & never got that refilled as well. The waitress blamed the kitchen staff for every mistake.
When we finally couldn't stay any longer I sent my husband to the car and had to get the hostess from the front of the restaurant to acquire the waitress who had been missing. After the hostess went to find her I saw the waitress walk past me 5 times before giving me the bill.
I would not visit again, but maybe another person will have a more...
