We went to Canby Pond to take our girls, ages 8 and 10, fishing. Unfortunately, the pond seems to have been taken over by an algae bloom so extensive that their bait was more likely to snag one of the numerous frogs or perhaps one of the young ducks. The only clear area in the pond was in an inaccessible spot near the back... (I was more likely going to be able to make nori from the amount of algae that the girls reeled in)
The river, on the other hand, was clean and inviting. There were shallow, peaceful areas for younger children to play and deep and swift areas for more experienced swimmers and those wishing to raft. Across the river were beautifully shaded areas for those who wished to relax.... Everyone was friendly and there were ample swim vests for children to wear.
The playground is larger than most parks and there was a field to play futbol or football if anyone was so inclined.
The numerous picnic benches were inviting in shade or sun.
