Carrboro is a collection of hidden gems in terms of food and drink, and this place is definitely one of them. The food is delicious, and they have a good selection of NC beers on tap. Combine that with comfortable indoor seating, spacious (shaded) outdoor seating, and *extremely* friendly staff. Big fan!

Amazing ownership to match incredibly delicious food. This would be one of those places you see on The Food Network and go wow if there were a spot like that with melty delicious food in a beautiful environment I would eat there every day… we have that here in Carrboro with Mel’s! They Cater as well!

Maybe the most underrated spot in CH/Carrboro. Al makes some of the best food in town and is very friendly and welcoming. I met Mel today and she is super friendly too. I’m not typically a fish sandwich fan but the one here is incredibly good. So is the buffalo chicken sandwich and homemade chips. Hours say closed on Sunday but they have been doing a Sunday football and futbol brunch from 11-4....

The staff is what makes a business climb and this business got the right staff. Food amazing, desserts amazing, drinks amazing, service amazing and some of the coolest owners you’ll ever meet. Dine in, dine on patio or takeout. If you’re in the area I would suggest making it a point to stop in, by experience i feel you won’t leave with any disappointments. My favorite place to chow in...

Mel's is one of the very best lunch spots in Carrboro. It is clean and comfortable with a wonderful staff serving delicious, filling meals. Hearty sandwiches served with choice sides as well as specialty dishes (chicken and dumplings, tomato pie) and scrumptious desserts make this a very special place to come back to...
