The only regret is that there is no concrete trails built around the entire lake so that tourists cannot walk after heavy rains. Sometimes it is difficult to find a parking place on weekends. You have to park near the baseball field and walk to the lake.
2/21/2024 The sun is shining today, but the temperature is a bit cold. Bond Lake in Cary is a popular spot for anglers, although I've always found the lake to be somewhat shallow. It's almost as if it's more suited for fishing than for baiting. Whenever I cast my line, I inevitably get snagged somewhere in the lake. Frustrated, I end up cutting the fishing line short and abandoning the bait.
However, I've noticed that if I were to use a slightly stronger fishing line, I might just hook the baits that other anglers have given up on. Perhaps luck would be on my side. It's an interesting thought—the same lake that frustrates me could also hold hidden treasures for those...
Read moreBond Park is an excellent city park, with something for everyone. You like water? There is a lake and boat rental in season, with ducks and geese. There is a nice area to let your dog to swimming. You like playing ball? There are baseball fields. You have young kids who like playgrounds? yep, they have that too. How about a nice hike? There is a hiking trail around the lake, some parts paved and some parts not, and it's just the right distance. Want summertime music? there is a band shell. How about just open fields for play? There is one too. A nice hill to slide down if it ever snows? Yep, there is one of those and once a year, they make snow. There is also a community center and a senior center in the park, as well as exercise trails. This park has something for everyone, one of the best town...
Read moreThe best of the best! The trails are awesome, especially considering you're right in the middle of Cary. I especially love the lake trail, which has some awesome views. The boathouse staff are always so helpful and nice, and the prices for boat launches are super affordable (and they have snaaaacks). The lake is great for fishing or just watching the ducks and herons. The staff at the community center are also super helpful! They're always having fun events: 4th of July, the pumpkin flotilla, snow tubing, and the biggest easter egg hunt I've ever seen ANYWHERE. Just keep an eye out when entering the park for the signs that tell you when the gates close that night--the gate time changes with the time the sun goes down and you don't want to...
