This place is great. It is like a best kept secret. In these days of Covid 19 the Government is just about useless but here I found hope and satisfaction. All I wanted was to find a place to purchase a Senior National Park Pass without buying it on line and waiting who knows how long to get it. The places you would think would sell them that are open to the public won't sell them and the places that do sell them will answer a the phone but aren't open and can't give you any better advice than to go somewhere that is closed or to a National Park hundreds of miles away. Well I found the Illinois Valley Visitor Center on my own only 25 miles from home and they were so nice. It was like they didn't exist.....but they did. Thank...

Stopped in before opening to get in line for the first cave tour of the day. Kay was great managing the large group that also wanted tour tickets, getting us tickets for the 10am tour and then getting the folx that showed up after us tickets- first come, first served. The national park stamp and map are easily obtainable inside. There is a small selection of gifts/ items, just not a lot of what we’re usually looking for. Great interpretive panels outside. Good starting point if you’re headed out...

Great experience! Although the cave tour is currently unavailable (as of may 2025) due to interuptions in federal funding (I'll hold my tongue on what I think of that here) the visitor center remains worth seeing. Staff are friendly, knowledgeable, and the woman we spoke to was a gem. Also, for aslong as the cave tours are paused, the cave stamp (which is usually only available up at the cave itself) is in the visitor center and available for collectors to use. They have a...

It is very convenient that this place is in town instead of all the way up at the caves so that visitors don’t have to travel very far to get the information they need and to make reservations. The park ranger who was operating this center was very helpful and answered all my questions. Very friendly and knowledgeable! I’m looking forward to my visit to the caves!!

We did the candlelight tour, it was really cool and since we've been in loud of other caves tours with some guided and some not this was a new experience. The park tour guide did a great job and we have a fun time. If you are camping, I'd recommend staying at the Cave Creek campground that is about 3-4 miles from the caves on the way up.
