Per Mar Security Services — Attraction in Cedar Rapids

We have had Per Mar for fourteen years, and we have been very pleased with their service. Recently, we had Matthew Smith come to install a new radio receiver. He did excellent work and was very personable to work with.

On two occasions, once when our smoke detector was malfunctioning and the other day when a new module had to be installed in our current panel, Wendel did a great job for us. In conjunction with the smoke detector, over the phone he was able to walk me through the steps to stop its alarm and later come over to replace it. There was a problem with the new radio's ability to interact with the panel, and he solved that problem with the new module.

In short, these two technicians were excellent with their craft and very friendly and personable to work with.

Yesterday, we met with Michael Price, a sales consultant, about upgrading our system. He was persistent in connecting with us by phone. He was right on time for his appointment in our home. He did a great job explaining our options, and then before the work day was over, he sent us the proposal for the upgrade. When I had some questions about the upgrade, he answered them promptly even though it was at the end of the work day on Thanksgiving Eve. He has been a delight to work with!

Again, our experience with Per Mar as a company and its employees has been excellent. We hope to continue our relationship well into the future. Thanks again Matthew, Wendel, and Michael!

Today we had Kurtis S. and Curtis A. install an upgrade to our alarm system. They had several obstacles to putting in the new one, but each time they consulted us before proceeding with their plan to overcome the obstacle. They were very efficient and completed the job by early afternoon. They were right on time for their 8:30 start time. I was impressed that they had their one broom and dustpan, and when they left, everything was clean. I have been a Per Mar customer since they purchased A-1 Alarm company in 2008. My original alarm system was purchased from A-1 a few years before that. Several of my sensors started to die after all these years so I decided it was time to buy a new system instead of chasing problems with an obsolete system. I contacted Mike at Per Mar sales to get a quote on a new system and monitoring, while researching other systems such as Simplisafe, Ring, Nest, etc. Reviews on all the DYI systems were really a mixed bag. Some reviews stated these systems were fantastic, and others stated they were junk. So many people write reviews as a source of income these days that I do not put a lot of stock in online reviews unless I have additional ways to verify the accuracy. I received the quote from Mike and thought the price of the system was comparable to other systems, though a little higher. The price for the monitoring was significantly more expensive than some of the other systems, but also more directly active in my home area. I ultimately decided to go with the more expensive Per Mar system for several reasons. 1. They are a local company that has served me well, without any problems, for over 10 years. 2. I have more confidence in the quality of the system and components that were installed in my house. 3. The system is easily expandable if I want to add more components. 4. With the exception of the keypad, the system is completely wireless. (my old system required an analog telephone line) 5. Per Mar was running a promotion so I got a free doorbell camera. Kurtis and Stephanie installed the system in one day. They did an excellent, deliberate, planned, and executed installation. They were both pleasant and courteous to work with, and respectful including things as simple and putting on booties when coming in from outside, before walking on our carpet.
