The Flying Wienie — Restaurant in Cedar Rapids

My family and I have never been so horribly treated anywhere! I spent $30 on crappy cold food because I thought it would be an iconic dinner that my 6 year old would enjoy, instead he ended up in tears because of a mean older male employee, they stole my money, and then were disrespectful and rude. Even more ridiculous is they have a sign asking for happy dependable employees. They need to dismiss the entire staff at this point. The owners should be ashamed to hire such disgraceful people.

On our first visit we called ahead because we were coming in about 15 minutes before close to get a to go order because we did not want to be rude and keep them there after close. They said no problem and to come on by. When we arrived ,there were two tables of people still eating inside yet we still chose food to go to avoid being rude. While we were waiting for our food I gave my son $2 in quarters to play an old arcade game they had. An older man that worked there actually came over and pulled the plug out of the wall on my 6 year old because he wanted to leave.. but our food still wasn't even cooked yet. My son was very sad and started to tear up about the mean man. About 5 minutes later they gave me food and forgot my sons fries so I asked them for them and the young blonde girl behind the counter was a complete jerk and did not want to be bothered by me and told me that i don't get anything else. I then asked for the lady that took my order as she was the only decent person in the entire place. Then that evil man that upset my son came behind the counter and started freaking out about me asking for my fries and I even tried to give them my receipt. The blonde girl ended up taking the second hot dog off my sons plate and traded it for fries! No one would even get the lady that took my order.

Horrible, horrible, food!!!!! Even more horrible staff!!!! I am an HR Coordinator and i will make sure every one in my company hears about this and never visits again. You...

I use to go there religiously. At least two to three times a week. Then I saw a few things that made my stomach lurch. First...An employee got to the bathroom before me so I waited. He took a piss and walked out wiping his fingers on his apron and I heard the toilet flush, but he never turned the sink on to wash his hands. So I can imagine what he was wiping on his apron. Second....I ordered a double play (which is two hot dogs) and I was standing over where you wait for your food and this Mexican woman that was fixing the meals was walking around with two hot dogs between her fingers (like they were a couple cigarettes). No plastic gloves on, just walking around with MY hot dogs in between her fingers as she gets the buns ready. I've seen them use tongs all the other times, but this grubby woman carries them around between her fingers while does other things. I didn't bother to tell John (the owner) because it was too much for me to handle for one day. I just threw them away and walked out and haven't been back there since. I can imagine the other unclean things they do there that I don't see and it makes me sick to think about what I have eaten in there over the years. The fresh cut fries and the Chicago dogs were very tasty, but not worth what goes on around the food. I like John and I feel bad for him, but he has to have seen these things go on and he needs to get a handle on it before...

The moment I walked in the owner greeted me with attitude (as if he hates his life) I ordered the Italian beef with fries and asked him about if his beans were good. he replied with best in town. So I ordered a side of beans. I also wanted to order my sandwich with a side of aju...he said he doesnt do that. i either get the sandwich wet or nothing. Very odd but ok. Then I said I wanted my fries extra crispy b/c I have been there before and they were soggy. He aid if he did tht then they would be hollow inside...

While I waited i asked who makes your chocolate cakes...his response was same place i get my bread.....ok well that isnt what i asked you sir...

I got my food and it looks like they grabbed everything out of a warmer and the beans looked like a bean soup to me. My fries was soggy as I expected, the Italian beef was over cooked and no seasoning and the bread was soggy which was weird bc I asked for mine to be dry. The beans...I took one bite and they had this horrible nasty weird taste to them. I literally took one bite of each thing and threw my food in the garbage and went to Gabo in Newbo....100000000% better customer service and food.

DO NOT SUPPORT THIS PLACE. HE IS RUDE AND CUTS CORNERS ON HIS FOOD. TRASH FOOD.

To boot all of his decor had so much dust on it we chose to each outside even when it was only 40...
