A beautiful well maintained Park in historic Centralia Illinois. One of the great draws of the park is locomotive 2500 of the Illinois Central railroad and it's accompanying caboose. There is also a memorial there that is dedicated to the lives of Illinois Central employees that were lost during world war II and other memorials to other railroad employees and their dedication to the ICRR. Although I could not find any markers indicating such, it is important to note that the caboose behind the locomotive was actually built in the Centralia shops and was one of thousands of cars that was constructed in Centralia for the Illinois Central railroad and roamed our country for many years.
The men and women who worked in the car shops and constructed these cars deserve to be remembered as some of the unsung heroes of the transportation industry and I hope that you just pause and remember the contributions they and their families made that yet continue to enrich...

I think there is a tennis court, and a small play ground for kids. Lots of room to park and rest or take a walk around and stretch the legs. You gotta see it at least once...
