A week ago my wife and I were to have a top load Whirlpool washing machine delivered. As the delivery guys were bringing it into the house, my wife noticed a huge scratch across the front of the machine. My wife refused the delivery after which the delivery guys said: "...well, we don't know how long it's going to take to get another one...." as if we really should take the damaged one. We insisted that we were not taking the damage machine. During a phone call to Spicher's, my wife was told that the machine would have been unboxed at the warehouse and check for damage. So, one of two things are necessarily true. Either it was unboxed and found to be damaged and they decided to bring it anyway, or, they damaged it and decided to deliver it anyway! In either case, this is a very poor way to run a business. Originally we set up another delivery for 2 days later and then thought better of it and canceled the whole order. It's too bad too because our dryer died a couple of days later. They could have had a bigger sale but now, we would be loathe to walk through their door ever again.
We prefer not to shop at the big box stores but, if we're going to get crappy service and misinformation, we might as well get it as...
Read moreI was the only customer in the store and when I walked in their were 2 sales staff on the their computer. Neither got up, and it took a few minutes before I was even greeted. The gentleman was still sitting down when he spoke to me with no intention of getting up. The lack of customer service lead me to leave and go to a local competitor where I bought the same night and it was delivered the same evening. The owner himself brought it out.
I leave this comment to hopefully encourage the sales staff that was working that night to not judge a book by its cover (I looked a mess carrying my baby and having spit up on my shirt) and/or to encourage them to get up to greet customers.
I was buying local and have bought my washer and dryer there before, but I wasn't going to buy from someone who didn't even greet me at first and wouldn't come out from behind...
Read moreI cannot speak highly enough of Spichers, based on our experience. Our fridge died on a Friday, and we started looking at the selection at a big home improvement store. Other than the few they had in stock, they could not give us a timeframe of delivery unless we actually ordered and paid for one. On Saturday, I started looking at Spichers website. They had way more in stock, including black stainless steel options. We had already narrowed down our interests and were able to easily navigate their website and find what we were looking for. I called their store, ordered the fridge on the phone, and they worked hard, including some extra truck maneuvering, to get us a new one...
