They fixed a few things on the playground the make it usable again. They removed the main fence on the playground but never put it back. Most other playgrounds keep the fencing for safety. Still Only 2 benches, one is at child's height in the ground. The benches are usually full and it's miserable to be standing for hours while the children play. Overall it's nice. Gets too busy during sporting events, not a single parking spot in site. The walking paths are long but hilly and can be more strenuous than it appears. There's multiple parking lots for easier access cuz of the hills and distance. There are some bums that stay there at night so keep that in mind being there alone or too late. There's 2 playgrounds, one for tiny kids but most just use the bigger playground cuz it's offers alot more entertainment than the smaller one. If you're interested in history, this is the place for you with a mini museum, helicopter, and wars memorial, historical preserved homes and more. Restrooms are available but close very early! I had to drive home before cuz they closed it before the park was closed! Many covered picnic areas near the playgrounds. I love this park but will leave when kids aren't being watched properly by their parents cuz I don't babysit for free and I'm not exposing my child to those negative behaviors. The playgrounds don't have any coverage from the sun and will become brutally hot during the summer. It's often empty during peak sun hours. The walk paths are shaded and can be walked at anytime. It's completed wooded and you will see animals and pretty plants. The path is wide enough for bikes too. This park is right next to fast foods, couple sit down restaurants, gas station is available, and the library is a very...
Read moreI love the walking trail (wish Henry County had more walking trail parks). The trail has great tree coverage and has some variation of terrain for those that enjoy a small hill or two. I'm not in great shape but the hills were manageable for me. Lol. My children and I enjoyed all the old buildings, vehicles (train and helicopter), the information and Henry County history that is shared about all the displays. Some of the buildings are under renovation so more difficult to see things through protection fencing but we still were able to enjoy them. The war memorial site so interesting and displayed some interesting facts of all the wars in US history. I encourage visiting the memorial if nothing else. The playground was nice for the children. There's also a workout area along the walking trail. The outer distance of the walking area is 0.7 miles, but there are some intertwining trails (with a few stairs and bridges) throughout the interior of the 0.7 mile outer trail. Of course, you can determine the distance you want to walk by your own pedometer or smartphone/watch. All and all we had a great time visiting and we plan to return at least to walk on a more regular basis. I encourage people, of all ages, to visit and...
Read morePrecious gem tucked away for all to enjoy! I absolutely love this place! They have memorial walls to represent the fallen soldiers in each military branch and a historical monument with much of what I learned I'm social studies. They have a very peaceful and solemn tribute to the POW and fallen war hero flag. The walking parks are very shaded and has different paths for whatever your speed. They also have a veterans museum ran by local veterans who volunteer their time for tours inside with a collaboration of different war artifacts and donations to be displayed for everyone to enjoy. This place truly is a place for all to come, despite any walk of life for all to come pay tribute to our country, good or bad, and to appreciate those who have put their lives on hold or on the line for our freedoms and liberties. This is a calm, peaceful and historical place that would be great for big or small groups to come to enjoy a quick walk through the woods a picnic, or to enjoy the veterans museum and appreciate the...
