I LOVE sunnyside. our OG dispo, ive been using them since before they owned pheonix botanical, and they are a definite improvement on the cresco brand.
but, some flawed things to know about this dispensary:
-its small, so their inventory isnt the best.
i always end up ordering something on weekends and someone will always end up getting the last of what i wanted before i could place an order for it. its quite annoying especially when youre someone who indulges in all types of THC consumption, because when you have a craving for something like dabs or edibles over basic flower its a major bummer when the item you planned on getting sadly ran out.
-its location is……choice?
its fine, but in my opinion they already bought the parking lot to the old hooters for shuttles so people dont have to walk across a busy road that has no sidewalk…………so why not just buy the building and use it for inventory so they dont run out of stock as easily? or even a second location? it just seems silly to have all that potential real estate around you and not do anything decent with it when our town desperately needs more of that flash & flair to it.
-parking is no bueno.
they had about 10 spots for rec and 3-5 for medical originally, but that first lot has changed several times. its been “upgraded” as they bought out the parking lot to the left of the dispensary which is their 3rd lot now, adding about a total 20 ish extra spaces? but people work in those areas so its not usually that many for customers nor are their medical spots on that side.
-product is very limited.
idk why, but they dont get all the things 90% of chicago dispos have. like moonrocks and diamonds (not in sauce) i get not everyone is into concentrates, but those of us who like terpenes a lot and getting that mix of affects/benefits is why we seek out moonrocks because of how relaxing just one hit off of one can be. its such a great medical tool and it really sucks to see nu era being the only one to RARELY sell them.
-they dont promote/sell seeds.
to my knowledge, the only type of promoting with growing they have is selling books and giving pamphlets on growing/ making edibles. other then that, their is no source of provocative access to seeds through sunnyside for medical patients and i find that to be lacking in a sense of care for medical patients especially. safe seeds not just sourced from the internet should be something sunnyside promotes instead of pointing you to a $60 8th with or without a $20 tax stamp on it. if they're going to take that route they should be at least showing people/recommending them seed sites.
i understand their are legal things still happening that need to go into place before then, but this isnt about why sunnyside is bad this is simply a criticism on the things they SHOULD improve on.
4 stars and a lot of bashing :/ i know, but hear me out- they make good money, and i know they do.
i want this 4 star to be a reminder to them that they have potential to make it better. maybe make that hooters another dispo all on its own, idk. but in my eyes, its cramped, it has little to show on their shelves which saddens me because they source some GORGEOUS glass pieces sometimes and i wish they would get more or have more space to sell more bongs and other things you dont commonly see them selling. (i digress) i wanna see them keep tackling things like how they do the parking lot issues.
make more space somehow, consider another location, increase inventory, and we could see this place staying top dog in the chambana area.
other then that, id gladly walk to enjoy their products, even as a resident of urbana- they offer quality product and have a great refund credit system for whenever you get a messed up product, and i always appreciate that.
also, their the only place where i can get edibles and flower with more then the estimated weight. ive gotten 1.4 grams of wax before and even an extra 1-2 gummies in edible containers. ya dont get that at nu era or cloud 9 for whatever reason and i buy from them...
Read moreThe only good thing I have to say about this place is that the customer service is great from the people at the counter. The line, while not that long physically, took 2.5 hours to get inside the building (while it was snowing all the while). The only solace was a small gas heater at the very front of the line. Won’t allow you to stand under the roof for some sort of relief from the weather - claims someone from Chicago will halt all sales if they see someone standing by the back door (yet there are construction workers in this area at all times and smokers were allowed to stand in that area with no problem apparently... Instead of letting one person out and one person in, they wait until 5 RECREATIONAL users have left and then they let 5 in. Wait time for a group to go in varies from 5 minutes to 35 minutes depending on how many med users go in in between. It would absolutely flow better to simply have a constant flow vs letting a group in, but I guess that’s just me. When you get in the building, if you have a temporary paper ID...good luck. Even though it is legal in every sense of the law, you can use it to buy alcohol etc, they will ask if you have your EXPIRED plastic ID instead, even though it’s no longer valid. In the end they’ll let you in, but it takes a bit of arguing. Employees seemed to have no idea where many of the products are. Two managers just sit around and verify sales (when they’re actually working...one of them spent a good amount of time running around to Starbucks etc instead of actually working). You exit from the same door people enter from which makes it a huge pain to get out of the building, as at this point, they prioritize letting people in rather than letting them exit. Parking is an absolute joke. Getting across Neil is a joke. Someone is going to get hit by a car trying to cross over...
Read moreLong story short, this is a terribly ran business. Whoever the owner is, could be doing so much more to make the customers wait time much shorter. I was in line for 2 hrs before making it into the tent where they have heat. As soon as we stepped into the tent we asked a staff member how long the wait was before getting into the dispensary and he replied 1 hr. Then a customer kindly turned around, that was much further ahead in line, to inform us she had been in the tent for 2 hrs. Why is it necessary to lie to your customers? And why do you only take 5 people in every 15 minutes or so??? There were 4 staff members just talking in the tent when im sure they could of been much more helpful by helping customers find what they need to increase the flow of customers. Why not implement a set time that each person gets upon entering the dispensary during peak volume times? I also forgot to mention that a staff member came out to announced they had no more flower and you were only allowed 1 item from each category. Even upon announcing this, which should of indicated an increase in the flow of customers, they still only took in about 5 people every 15 minutes. Why did it still take so long when every customer was limited to what they could get?? Why not hand out papers with what you guys offer to those standing in the tent so they can get an idea of what they want before entering to speed things up a bit??? You guys are not doing anything to try to keep your customers and its very unfortunate. I saw around 50% of those who showed up while I was there for 2 hrs leave because of how slow the business runs. How the reviews are so good, i will never understand. They probably told their staff members to go in and...
