Strand Tennis Center — Attraction in Chatham

Beautiful facility. Great coaches. My son enjoys his class and has shown improvement. The front desk is poorly run. The Make Up policy is ridiculous. My son was vomiting in the car ride to his lesson. I called to let them know he is sick and won’t be there. Stephanie informed me he could make up the class. All I had to do is fill out a make up form. This is the email I received today,

Thank you for submitting this form! Our Make Up Policy details that notice of an absence must be provided more than 24 hours in advance of the scheduled activity for players to receive a make up. Unfortunately, we did not receive advanced notice of Andrews absence yesterday, June 1st, making him unfortunately able to do a make up.

So since he didn’t get sick 24 hrs in advance he can’t make up the class! My options were to drop him off sick or lose money for the lesson. This is ridiculous! Insensitive and not flexible.

Didn't even make it in. I got covid the day of my lesson and had to cancel, obviously (even left work early). Was told I would still be charged the full amount for the lesson. Had a few phone calls and I was not given a refund or even the courtesy of good customer service because of the 24 hr policy... Owner would not even compromise at all! I still wanted my lesson for the following week. I was never told their policies nor was it mentioned in any of the 3 emails I recieved. Myself, and my people will no longer be going...they lost...

I really like Strand especially the fact that they are not a membership based place , they have great coaches and the drills and play are a good level. The one thing I wish they would address is making it easier to book and sing up. They have an app which shows event calendar but it doesn’t display if there are open spots and it doesn’t let you sign up for any clinics or court time. So you always have to call or email which works but is not convenient. They are very busy so finding private lesson time during non working hours...
