The Battle of Great Bridge is an overlooked event in the Revolutionary War that was actually quite important. Historically, though it was a short and small battle, it was America's first resounding victory in the Revolutionary War. It was also the only battle where Americans suffered no loss of life. But why was the battle important? Why should anyone care? One, it showed that Colonial Patriots had the capability to fight and win. Two, and probably more importantly, it kept supply lines from North Carolina to Virginia and beyond, open. Had the British won, the Revolution may have ended very differently and much sooner.

This was a wonderful little park. There's a short but nice trail through the woods. The Waterways, especially the locks, are beautiful. We were even fortunate enough to see a tugboat posing a barge under the bridge. There's a picnic area and playground on the other side. Folks can set up and fish; I don't know if it's catch and release, but the 'fisherman' were certainly invested in the sport. It's certainly a nice quaint park with a little bit for everyone. I didn't visit the museum... it was closed.

We going fishing and hiking in the woods here. Great place for walking dogs and bringing the kids. There is a group that does a reenactment of the battle every year, pretty neat to watch. Nice trail with information plaques along the way to relay the history of battle and how the first bridges were made. I have never seen anyone having to wait to get into the museum itself. Not sure about the price. It's probably on their website though.

This is one of the best museums & parks I've ever visited. The gallery exhibits are excellent with full of great history about Great Bridge and its significance during the Revolutionary war. The people who fought here, unknowingly secured America's future and helped boost the Patriot's confidence during the struggle against the British.

The trails are great for running and it's enjoyable to walk the whole way. There will be events from time to time such as live music and food trucks. The people who put efforts into putting this museum and park together did a great service to Virginia and the U.S. as a whole. I highly recommend visiting...

I had an ancestor fight in the 1775 battle, so when I was in Virginia, I had to see it. The museum is very nice, and I loved the gift shop inside. I found some books here that I hadn't seen before (considering that I own several hundred books about the Revolution, that is saying something). The docent was very knowledgeable and gave me some ideas on how to find out more about my ancestor who fought there. It looks like the area has some plans for the park in the near future, so I look forward to revisiting in a few years to see what progress...
