I want to be honest with my experience. I really liked their filipino sausage when i went there once and tried it tho it’s pretty pricey. Then i found out the are offering breakfast special for $9 instead of $14 but you have to dine from 6am-9am so from being in Virginia beach i had to drive 25mins to get there before 9am and order their special only to find out that the breakfast special only comes with one sausage, that seems to be very misleading coz i dont find it “special” at all. The rest of the food doesnt taste special at all. Scrambled eggs are bland, country fried steaks has too much flour and very thin pork also bland, theres nothing special about pancakes and waffle and the worst thing is their rice it was too soggy it’s not fried rice, you dont call a fried rice when it wasn’t fried, it was wet and soggy.tbh the prices are insane. It was my second time and i came to a realization that i don't really wanna go back. Filipino sausage and tocino were good but i can find them somewhere else for less. Im sorry but im very disappointed. Response to the comment below: it would be “special” if you’re really getting a good deal on special but you are shaving a major piece off that made it not special. And what about the soggy fried rice that is not fried?

Felt like home even when this is my first time to dine at Sunrise. Wonder why I waited this long?? The place was packed, indicative of the great warm friendly service and the delicious breakfast food. I had my craving for longanisa (labeled sweet sausage on the menu) so that's what I ordered: Filipino breakfast with sweet sausage (note:tocino is equally delicious) , fried rice, toast and 2 eggs your way. Can't say enough about the friendliness of the staff and I swear the ambience of hospitality is contagious, even the customers at the bar where I was seated were all friendly! Veronica the owner is immersed in serving the customers - taking to go cells, making delicious lattes...everyone chipping in in a cadence with no words needed to coordinate without missing a beat. That's what you get for being in business for 29 years! Definitely recommend, come one come all!

This is our go to breakfast place. We have eaten here at least 20 times and the food is always great. I like to get the sunrise club with French fries. It’s a straight classic and the French fries are amazing. We also like the steak omelet that comes with cheese, pepper, onions, and mushrooms with pancakes and home fries on the side. Delicious. Also, the prices are very reasonable. This place feels like you are eating at home. The atmosphere is very basic, which I love. The service is always very good and the food comes out quickly even when it’s busy. This place is seat yourself and you can split checks and pay with credit card. See the pictures which speak much louder than my review. We will definitely be eating here many more times.

I had went to brk with my family and came out very disappointed in service, food and especially the lady (owner ?) at the counter. I came with my husband and kids. At first , we were seated separately because we had 9 people. My two youngest and my husband and I were seated at the booth and then my other kids got seated at table. One waitress took our drink order and then maybe about 5 mins or so later, the establishment put some tables together for us to sit. Now another waitress took my other kids drink and food order and then our waitress came with our drinks and then later came back and took our food order. With our water, we asked for lemon, which we had to ask several times , then when our food came, the order wasn’t right.. which is no big deal but when we got our check, it said 20% gratuity and had no total. Plus, my husband got burger and I believe it came with fries but it had separate prices on the burger, fries and 3.75 add on for pickles?! Who gives ticket without total price? I want to know what I am paying.. Also one of my daughter went and asked about the ticket and why 20% gratuity was added but gave her some nonsense about the fine print on the bottom of menu, which I had already read. I’m not illiterate.. and most restaurants do that but a different waitress took our order while another waitress took my older grown kids orders.. Now I could deal with that but the lady at counter was something else. You run or work at restaurant. How you talk ( especially the tone) that you speak to your customers is a must, especially in food service. I read other reviews about the lady running register , how rude she is and I must say I agree. She was rude, condescending, arrogant and very unprofessional in her tone and the way she handles customer and complaints. I am not a complainer and even when service is slow or not right, I usually let it go with a smile but she made me want to put a review in to let other customers or future customers know what kind of treatment they might receive. Also when my other daughter went to pay her bill, the lady at cash register basically told her how much gratuity she will pay. I thought it was the customer choice depending on their dining experience and I usually leave a good tip, especially if I had a good experience. The waitress but have been a little slow (because of being busy) which I understand but the rudeness of the owner ( lady at the register) just rubbed me the wrong way. And it seemed like I wasn’t the only one that noticed that reading other reviews. So I will not be EVER going to Sunrise Breakfast Shoppe . And yes, I will be going to another establishment if I am in...

I was so excited after my first breakfast at Sunrise! I shared my experience with multiple people. After my first visit, I shared with my co-worker and we ordered lunch on Wednesday, I got the ham, cabbage and carrot lunch special, she got the Adobe egg white omelette last Wednesday. Her son’s birthday was Saturday and he and several of his friends went for breakfast to celebrate his birthday. Today I went back to try the meatloaf lunch special! The mashed potatoes were covered with brown gravy even though I had explained I don’t eat gravy. When I went to get it corrected, Veronica repeatedly asked me in a nasty tone if I was tipping. You added a $1.50 service charge for to go orders. Who and why would I tip when you charged me extra for a to go order, no one has serviced me other than to put my food in a bag, get real! The gentleman in front of me was asking questions about the extra charges and you were rude and condescending, telling him it’s not 1985 and you pay more now. I went from singing your praises and referring you business to being done with your rudeness and bullying of a regular customer. My understanding is you’re celebrating 30 years in business tomorrow under the same ownership! What a shame, instead of celebrating you, which is where I was a week ago…I am no longer interested in supporting you due to your nasty attitude, extra charges that aren’t divulged until after the fact and expecting a tip for nothing!!! You just lost a great customer and many referrals! Shame on you for not appreciating your customer base. Enjoy your food, but absolutely refuse to pay for service with an attitude and bullying over a tip for a to go order! No service involved other than putting my food in a bag and you charged me for that. Soooooooooo disappointing because I love to support local businesses vs...

What can I say. Spent $35 bucks on pre-made pancakes, 2 pieces of fatty bacon, and eggs that were cold. We got there right when they opened, and my thoughts were that the food would be fresh and tasty. That wasn't the case. Usually, a breakfast place can't go wrong on a very basic, eggs, toast, pancake, and bacon breakfast. I was proven wrong. The service was ok if you don't want to be greeted when u walk into an establishment and there are only 2 other people there. Along with the waitress and staff talking loudly to each other in a foreign language. I'm very disappointed. I was so looking forward to a good old home cook breakfast after a long night at work. :( I just look at some of the reviews, and there are a lot of 5 stars. I definitely don't understand what happened this morning, or maybe my standards are too high. Oh, I forgot to mention. It cost $6.00 for a side order of 2 pre-made cold pancakes. I could not believe they charged that for a side order. That just seemed outrageous when the breakfast plate was $7.00. She should have suggested to me to order the special with pancakes for $7.00 and then order a side of toast for $2.00. I should have noticed myself. That just confirmed that they aren't looking out for there customer only their pockets. I...
