Cahill Park is a great place to walk to when you have some free time. During the summer it's especially pretty, because everything is so green. It's also a good place to do some photography. Don't expect anything professional when you go there though; but if you pay attention you'll get some really nice pictures. Cahill also has a hill that's nice to watch the sunset on. Overall, it's a nice place to go and calm down if you're having a stressful day. You can lay in the grass and look up into the trees, or sit at one of two picnic tables that are offered in the area. Teens are often seen there during warm days after school is over, usually to skate or go for a walk. However, you'll often see trash stuck in the trees of the park or clinging onto fences. It's likely that this isn't the visitor's fault, since debris tends to get blown into the trees. The park is usually clean otherwise. During part of spring or summer, people often gather to play soccer. If you're a consistent visitor to Cahill, you'll notice that the park is a go-to place for practicing soccer. Cahill is also good for throwing Frisbees, having a picnic, or walking your dog. Unfortunately, many people let their dogs off leashes, which isn't recommended, and people often don't pick up their animal's waste, so it could be an unlucky day if you're walking in the grass, so be cautious. Unlike Holiday Park, a park also located in Cheyenne, Cahill park is free of geese and their mess they leave behind. It's likely that the reason for this is because Cahill does not have a lake, which makes it easier to maintain, and also attracts less geese. If you're on the Greenway riding your bike, it's likely that you'll pass through Cahill. If you've got any spare time, you should definitely visit.
UPDATE: OCTOBER 29 2016
Cahill Park is going through some changes. The city has decided to cut down many of the beautiful trees and replace them with a man-made park, which is very disappointing to many of the parks' weekly visitors. Many people don't quite understand why the City of Cheyenne would do such a thing, and many are hurt by this. Cheyenne has decided to replace a large area of the park with an all-acsessible playground, which will come in handy for some families in Cheyenne. Unfortunately, they refused to place the park elsewhere. They took up a disappointingly large and calming space for the parks' changes. As an almost daily visitor to this park, I am rather heartbroken about this change. Yearly memories I have made in this park leave me not wanting to visit...
Read moreIt's the newest party in town which makes it be super nice! But they should have done better planning as to the design of the park in functionality. It's beautiful but hard to use everything. The rolling slide doesn't have stairs up to it so the kids climb up the hill and have made the mulch go away. Also the entrance is a bit odd so usually people walk across the mulch instead of going to the sidewalk. It's a little bit hard to watch your little kids because the park is so big and on two levels. I love the giant rectangle rocks that double as extra seating when the few benches are full. The merry-go-round was a little dangerous originally with the top pinching kids but they have done removed that so it's way better now! Even though kids get flung off every once in a while still. It only holds about 8-12 kids. There are a great variety of things to climb on and play with, even for bigger kids...

Our 7 and 9 year old really enjoy this park as long as we space out visits and don't try to stay too long. It looks so cool, but is honestly a bit lacking in actual play-ground type equipment. For our kids getting to a park that has more in the way of good swings and slides and things of that nature is just better. It isn't a bad park by any means. But it just doesn't actually hold their attention long enough for me to give it a truly good rating.
As for the rest of the park. It's fine. It's nothing overly impressive, but it isn't shabby or anything. So 3 stars is where I sit on this one. I would, and I do go back, but it's never a destination park for...
