The Adler Planetarium is a very family-oriented museum and it would be a great place to bring kids under the age of 10. I went with my partner and a friend and we had a fun time, but I'm not sure if there's enough content for adults to engage with to merit another visit. The admission was fairly steep ($32/person for entry and access to 1 show) for the size and scope of the planetarium. At least one section was "not in orbit" and completely closed off. Unfortunately, many of the exhibits that were open were having technical issues and would present inaccurate information - for example, my friend and I were engaging with a seated exhibit in a darker room that would direct you to the wrong galaxy when you clicked specific galaxies to view on the touch screen. We tried a few of the games in the same room but the game gave us prompts that did not make sense, e.g. asking us to move carbon building blocks but were were only given the option to select oxygen ones. Additionally, I had a strange experience when checking in as a guest who had purchase tickets in advance - I was singled out from my group of 3 and body-blocked from entering the building when I was heading to the desk to check in. My partner and my friend were ahead of me and the security guard asked my friend to show their ticket, but not my partner, and neither of them were not stopped from proceeding into the building. As I approached the entrance, I realized that I needed to fetch a mask out of my bag and stopped inside the vestibule to put it on before going inside the building. The security officer approached me and hovered silently within 2 feet of me, physically blocking off the entrance and separating me from the rest of my party (also masked), who had gone inside but were standing just a few feet away. I had to ask him directly if he needed something before he asked to see my ticket, then I was allowed into the building, where I had to check in again at the front desk to show them my tickets (for myself and my partner). It felt really odd to be singled out as the most visibly BIPOC-presenting person in my group and to have my tickets checked at the door when they did not check to see if my white-presenting partner had tickets until they were at...
