Soundings Cafe — Restaurant in Chicago

My significant other and I stopped here for a break from all of the beautiful scenery at Shedd Aquarium. This place was located on the Ground Level of the facility.

We ordered at the counter. I purchased a Strawberry Fruit Smoothie, a Peanut Butter Cookie, and a Monster Energy 16 Fl. Oz. To get some energy. The prices were a bit steep, but not intolerable for me.

My order was completed relatively fast. We sat down at a table that they had there. The smoothie was thick, fruity, and tasty! The cookie was a good size and just as tasty! That was a relief, as it was rather pricey. The Monster was crisp and refreshing! This was a convenient stop. It was just what I needed to continue my day at Shedd Aquarium!

Overall, this was a great place to recharge. If I ever go back to Shedd Aquarium, I might pop in here again to try something new.

After reading some of the latest reviews, a pattern began to emerge. The staff is extremely rude and act as if they are bothered to be there and serve us. Male cashier was very despondent and lacks basic customer service skills. Lady preparing the drinks is as equally rude it not more. After expressing to them my drink was wrong size and needed ice they showed their frustration towards me. Cashier blamed me for the misunderstanding, that’s a nogo in the hospitality business. The lady began murmuring “ you can’t change your drinks once paid, you get what I make you” Last I checked we, the customers, are within our rights as patrons to request changes and additions if needed, especially if it’s incorrect. I lost my cool and voiced my displeasure as I walked away without any drink in hand.

I recently visited Soundings Café, and it was a truly disappointing experience. The cafe has a terrible practice that I feel compelled to share. The menu listed a side of salmon at $7.95, but when I got my bill, I was shocked to see that I was charged $9.95. When I pointed out the discrepancy to the staff, they casually mentioned that the price had increased but they hadn't bothered to update the price tag. This is an unacceptable and misleading practice that leaves customers feeling deceived.

The service was equally disappointing. There was no apology or attempt to make things right—just a dismissive attitude that added to the overall negative experience.
