Sephora is a dishonest company and will not hesitate to cheat customers.
Nothing against this specific location, but I’ve recently had two terrible customer service experiences with the company. I am a Rouge level rewards member and have spent a lot of money in Sephora over the years. I recently was able to cash in points for one of the elusive $100 Bazaar Rewards that are almost never available and even more difficult to snatch up before they sell out. The expiration of the reward was clearly printed in black and white as April 29, 2021. (This just happened yesterday which is why I am still fuming.)
I attempted to make an online purchase yesterday to use the reward. When I entered my promo code, however, the website rejected it with an error message: “This code has already expired.” I called customer service to inquire, and the response I got was that “the reward must be used within 90 days of redemption”, and that April 29 was day 91. I asked, if this was the case, why the PRINTED expiration date was not stated as April 28th. Any reward/coupon/sale/etc I have EVER participated in states the “expiration date” as the final date of redemption, including on that date.
The customer service representative I spoke to then tried to backpedal saying that I should have “interpreted the expiration date as needing to be used by the day before the printed date”. What a load of **. I then stated that expiration dates are not open to “interpretation” when they are objectively printed on a voucher, and that if this is Sephora’s practice it seems to me that the company is intentionally trying to steal points (and thereby money) from its clientele.
At this point I requested to be transferred to a supervisor who was equally unhelpful. The best they were “able” to do was submit a REQUEST that is not guaranteed to reimburse points back to my account - but they absolutely would not even attempt to honor the reward.
Terrible customer service. Sephora is an expensive place to shop and there are plenty of alternative places to purchase the same products, which is where I will be taking my business in the future. I’m...
Read moreI have been a customer of Sephora for several years and have been observing a continuous decline in service quality. Today (June 3) I was at the Michigan location in Chicago and the service was poor. The staff did not know the products in skincare department. Instead of talking with you, they looked into their tech device to find something based on what I had to tell them. Two times I was still recommended the wrong product that did not match what I suggested (no fragrance please). It is obvious they have poor training, and they are not very motivated or passionate about their job - on a Monday morning. I was then talking with someone from the make up department, and she treated me as if I were their staff. Please wait here without telling me why she had to disappear - 5 minutes I didn't see her. Then I asked her a simple question for a highlighter in a travel-friendly size. She showed me one that was not travel-friendly size. When I voiced my concerns, she said: do you want to look around for yourself? I was speechless. Within 1 minute I then found a travel-friendly shimmer highlighter myself. When I asked her why she didn't show me that product, she said that it wasn't as glowy as the other that's why she didn't show me. But it seemed to me that she didn't know the products well, otherwise, she would have given me at least the option for a product that was a much smaller travel size. During the entire service, she was not friendly, with no smile, just an annoyed tired look. I felt stressed when I left the store with so little engagement and so much unfriendliness - and that by someone at a prime location. Sephora used to be different. They should hire people who get proper training and who like skincare and makeup and engaging with clients. I will not come back, and I do not recommend...
Read moreIf I could give this review a -100 stars I WOULD!!! I had the WORST experience ever that I will let everyone I know how problematic their workers are along with how management did NOTHING!!!! The ridiculous thing about this is that it all happened as I was trying to leave the store. On my way out in a small aisle unbeknownst to me that this person was a “worker” was speaking to a customer but they were taking up the whole aisle so I said “excuse me” and I was ignored. So I raised my voice thinking he didn’t hear me so once again I said excuse me and he turns around to look at me with an ugly tone of voice saying don’t you see me talking to someone. I then said okay so just move then and he started to walk away as he kept talking, saying I don’t know who you’re talking to and I said you who else. Once I noticed the microphone on him I realized he was a worker and so I asked another worker if he worked here and then I asked for a manager. The manager didn’t do a single thing to deescalate the situation and once again this child kept up with his tantrum and got in my face saying his name is Joshua Sanchez. Only thing the manager said to me is if I was still shopping and I said no I was on my way out and she asked me to leave. VERY UNPROFESSIONAL 100/100 with this establishment! I’m going to make sure something is done about this child. My nephew was with me and he had to push him away from me because he kept trying to get in my face. I can’t believe they will hire a man who can’t control his emotions because someone said excuse me to him. If you don’t know how to act like a civilized individual you have no place to be working...
