lol where do I start... EMMA oh Emma your name tag says management, but your attitude says ungrateful, entitled, & incompetent. If you can't handle explaining to your guests as to why the room isn't ready at 4pm check - in like the reservation notes, please take a seat and let an actual manager do the job. Having more than just my friends party of 10 in your lobby with suitcases you had an entire lobby of guests confused, unhappy, and displaced... you also had no desire to help any of us! My reservation showed up at 4:15 we waited in line got to the front desk and there were no rooms available we let them know we had a reservation that we already had 2 rooms booked (when you got involved and this was brought to your attention you said "we don't give time for check - in nobody should have told you that"... What does that mean Emma? do I just show up when I want and my room is ready. no that's not how that works hotels give a check in time so guests can account for their time and show up at the appropriate check-in so make that make sense.) your front desk agent saw that our party needed our rooms and she had no reasoning to give us why they weren't ready for us so she brought you in, no problem we thought a manager could surely help us.. boy were we wrong. Our party of 10 was sent to the 2nd floor PUBLIC BATHROOM to get ready for our dinner reservations! ARE YOU KIDDING ME?! I could have sworn this was the hospitality industry... After that we saw you in the elevator and you went to go check on our rooms it was 5:30 you said they still weren't ready for us the 2 rooms with 1 bed each... we corrected you because we booked 2 rooms with 2 double beds in each (2 weren't staying the night) 8 women need more than 2 beds...) we asked about them being connecting you then said "we don't do that at this hotel." Interesting because we called weeks ahead of time and were told that wouldn't be a problem, it was also in the booking notes and we called the day before to confirm that they said to make sure when checking in that we asked if it was available to which the lovely front desk person said "yes I see that in your notes" so once again EMMA what is it that you do here? My friend paid good money to book these room to which Emma said "oh well" this is the WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE! My friend has 1 night to celebrate an amazing time in her life we wanted to decorate and dance and celebrate in the rooms while we all got ready none of that mattered to her. We got a text at 6:30pm that our rooms were ready we come back at 7pm the bellman Jim was a treat he said to speak to the morning manager, as he helped us upstairs as he saw all of us frantic before. Get to the rooms and they aren't connecting them aren't even across the hall they are down the hall and around the corner from each other AND one of the rooms was "upgraded to a king with a pull out, not what we wanted doesn't help the situation and honestly for what we were doing NOT AN UPGRADE FOR US. We decided after going back and forth that dealing with this hotel wasn't going our way and to just deal with it because at least we now have something. The AM Manager was so apologetic and refreshing he took the time to help us understand and we told him everything that happened, yes he took a small amount off the bill but tbh the night wasn't going right as soon as Emma strolled over.
The rooms were ok, no microwaves, beds weren't the comfiest, but we all awoke and just wanted to get out of there away from it because nothing was going to be corrected the proper way.
If you book here just know your room won't be ready, you'll have to wait no matter what and "it's not their problem."
She needs a new job in retail in the back where she doesn't need to use her customer service voice or she needs MAJOR retraining and some classes on how to speak to...
Read moreI was a solo traveler to Chicago from June 25 - 30, 2025. I have stayed at this Marriott multiple times and have enjoyed each stay and continue to return. Here's why: As a solo female traveler, I feel safe in this hotel. It is quiet and I haven't had any occasions where my floor mates have been too loud, partying too much or have had anything suspicious in the hallways.
The staff have always been welcoming--some very "professional" yet welcoming, others very "friendly" and welcoming. All have tried to accommodate me in any way possible. I generally arrive at the hotel mid-morning and only expect to check my luggage so I can go out into the city. Often times, I am able to get into a room early. On this trip, I was not able to do that, but Gloria at the front desk was very helpful and tried her best. I appreciated that. The staff in the market were also very helpful, professional, and kind. Additionally, the staff at the Rush Street doors always greeted me on the way in and the way out with a smile.
The location can't be beat. Out the Michigan Avenue doors and you are minutes away from the river walk and all that has to offer; a 20 minute walk to the east and you are lakefront; 20 minutes to the south and you're at Grant and Millenium Park and The Loop, as well as the L hub at Clark and Lake. Out the Rush Street doors, and all of River North (shopping, restaurants, nightlife) is at your fingertips.
Yes, the hotel is older. Probably about 10 years ago, all the rooms were refurbished and upgraded. Could it be done again? Yes. But, my room was clean upon arrival and always cleaned every day of my stay. The fridge worked. The air conditioning was good--I was actually chilly! The floor-to-ceiling windows are a treat no matter if you have a lake view or city view.
There is a destination fee. I used mine in the Market to grab water and snacks when I left to explore the city every day. If I had some credit left, I grabbed a soda or water for my room in the evening when I returned. They do serve Starbucks coffee in their market.
Someone removed my "Privacy Please" door hanger from my door knob. I called down to the front desk to ask for a replacement. After about 20 minutes, my in room phone rang, and it was the front desk asking if my new door hanger had arrived. I checked. It had not. I waited another 10 minutes and the door hanger was hanging on my door knob. Not having a door hanger may seem like something that shouldn't matter, but to me, it does--it helps communicate with housekeeping and others. The hotel staff really could have blown me off on a Friday night, but they didn't and I appreciate that immensely.
All in all, the location, clientele and location make this Marriott worth coming to. I admit, I am a no-fuss, low-maintenance guest, but I have also learned that, even Chicago, if you treat the staff at any establishment with kindness, I have always been treated well in return.
I will always consider the Marriott first, when I travel to Chicago. Thank you to the...

I casually walked from the red line stop two blocks away and walked into the lobby. The lobby Marriott signature scent was amazing. Check-in was easy and seamless. I decided to “shoot my shot“ and ask for a room upgrade or higher floor And it was granted. So huge thank you for that!
I was upgraded to room number 4431 and the views were western facing. Absolutely beautiful especially at night. Going down the long hallway you were able to see Lake Michigan through the buildings. The room was exceptionally clean, and I was able to get my requested robe, additional towels and toiletries, plus pillow delivered to the room Within one hour.
Granted, i was there St. Patrick’s Day weekend and it is an extremely busy weekend, I just had a few minor hiccups. Number one, I felt that the sink water pressure was not strong. Despite putting on the hot and cold full blast, it just wasn’t what I was used to. Again personal preference. Secondly, the room right next to me - I think- 4433 or 4429 (closest to the end of the hallway) was arguing for about an hour off and on in the middle of the night. I can hear it all. Thankfully, I was so exhausted, I couldn’t even make a phone call or message through the app lol lastly, I was disappointed that there was no hand soap in the bathroom. I was able to get some the next morning, but had to use body wash as hand soap.
I noticed that some people reviewed the breakfast buffet to not be the greatest. I thought it was very well made and a good price. The buffet is a much better option than ordering items individually. My server was fantastic and I want to say it was about $32 or $34 per person. You can use your daily $25 resort credit towards The breakfast or even the pantry/Starbucks shop downstairs.
I really enjoyed this location right off of Rush and Michigan Avenue. The lobby was always busy this entire weekend, primarily due to the holiday. Everyone was festive and happy and the drinks were certainly flowing. I will highly consider and recommend this location for another downtown...
