First and foremost... 5 Stars to Will at the front desk and Azarria (spelling may be off) for the Valet! The way I was so upset with the parking for this location was unreal! However, the compassion and understanding for the situation was met with empathy as they proposed solutions separately from each person's position was top-tier customer service. Azaria did not have to listen to me vent about the $72 for Valet parking and yet still was quite understanding to the dilemma while offering solutions. THANK YOU SO MUCH, You were very much appreciated within that stressful moment!
Valet is the only parking THEY have. They will suggest however, Spot hero at a rate of $30 a day with no access to your vehicle for that timeframe at various locations in the city. So imagine my disdain finding that out as I called about where to park right before attempting to check in. That's $144 of an unexpected expense associated with the hotel expense. Now, Will... put forth a valiant effort to decrease that cost amongst my frustration and anger! It's dark and late with two women traveling alone and then being told you can have you car parked by who know who and you're gonna wanna Uber around. That wasn't my original plans for my safety or my comfort nor cost efficient at that point as I already paid for a rental. So, last minute making these decisions had my stress through the roof. Will maintained, a resolution demeanor, while contacting valet to communicate the changes as they occurred, took me to the location and explained to the man what I needed, and offered waters afterwards! He had a great sense of humor to attempt to enlighten the situation. THANK YOU WILL, I appreciate you! He also gave insight and conversation on the city which was also appreciated. He also, provided contact information for the manager which was appreciated.
Hotel evaluating: The room itself was okay. The beds and pillows were soft and plush! Nice place to lay after a long day! The restroom is small. There was no refrigerator or microwave despite it being advertised as such on the website. That limited what we could buy as there was no way to refrigerate leftovers. The cleaning was not top notch. To have hair in the shower and other small stains along the light switch and around the room is small but yet and still noticeable. On parking alone... I would not return. Had I known that would be and expense to be included prior to showing up... I would respect that, budgeted accordingly, and would consider revisiting. On the room, If I put it in the perspective of being compact in a small high tourist area I can understand the small rooms. However, no refrigerator or microwave, I would've chose a different location. Total cost $327 + $73 for parking for 2 nights. This was not an enjoyable $400 experience. The location to Grant park for the Food Festival... Awesome! Walking distance to a lot of the popular attractions. I prefer to make informed decisions and the lack of information and appliances...
Read moreI reserved my hotel room online through the actual company website. Booking was user friendly. I was under the impression I booked and paid. I arrived at the hotel and they asked for my payment. I still have to double check this transaction. The hotel looks like the picture, but the photographer was on his game, meaning he made those pictures look dreamy. The hotel looked exactly the picture but not really. The Lobby, the front desk area and the rooms are micro sized. It was explained to me it was because it was a boutique hotel. Yeah, I'm not convinced that in the description of a boutique hotel, that the size of the rooms are smaller. The actual number of rooms are smaller than a standard hotel property. Additional a boutique offers special amenities, with this in mind considering the St. Claire this is laughable.
The hotel was clean. Not sure about parking (we used Uber everywhere). Covid procedures preventing daily room cleaning. You were able to request fresh daily linen and towels. They were able to provide plastic ware. Our room was "deluxe" (insert air quotes) - mini fridge and microwave. I have to say this - don’t laugh - The sink is big enough to wash only one of your hands at a time. I think the sinks in my 1:12 scale miniature houses are bigger. The location was prime, middle of down town and The Magnificent Mile.
The staff was professional, not friendly but professional. I encountered a front desk concierge that was super helpful and one not so helpful. The front desk concierge that was not helpful, she also wasn’t forward thinking or problem solver oriented. We were granted an early check in -before 3PM - which was VERY appreciated - we arrived early A.M. (Thank you so much) We were not granted late check out; I even offered to pay. I was told they don’t offer late check out and that the hotel was booked. I asked if housekeeping could clean our room last. The concierge said housekeeping checks every room out at noon, and then they clean. I explained that I was working and needed to stay a bit later. I asked what if I said what if I booked another night. She explained the accommodations needed to be completed by noon. They offered a room at full price, which is more than I paid per day initially. I ended up booking online through a third party - for a full nights stay. I left promptly at 3PM the time I promised. With the state of the world and the suffering of the travel industry, that is now ramping back up, I would think, as a boutique hotel, returning customers and referrals would be key. I honestly think I could have been better accommodated.
I will not return to this hotel ever again. I feel comfortable posting this review, because it is all truthful without being malicious, along with my off the wall humor. If the hotel is interested in giving me a full refund for my stay - I'm open to it. I will keep you posted - if this issue is positively...
Read moreOkay this took me a month to write I’m not the type to write review on less need. Where do I start this hotel didn’t not look like the pictures the room were very small. But it was clean and the front reception was nice to me and my sister until it was the 3 night we were there. They’re was one night front reception worker that’s was very disrespectful, very discriminative, very unprofessional. He was a gentlemen name Frank , at first he was doing his job by asking my name and ID. But because I just step out I didn’t take my ID or room card. My sister made our reservation, I give the reception my sister information including room number and when it came to the address I wasn’t sure what address my sister put because we move a lot. But since I walked in the hotel the reception already had a problem with me and was discriminating. He asked me to put on my face mask which I was on the process of taking it out my bag. I called my sister to let me up but unfortunately she was sleep. So I asked the reception for a key and that’s were the problem began I give him all the information and when it came to the address I give him our current address but the address on file was my father which we haven’t nt use for 3 years. When I got the address wrong it’s like he was happy I got it wrong and he yell WRONG at my face ! So I tried to call keep calling my sister because at that point he won’t let me up. I tried telling him, he could come up there with me and I can go get my ID, but he would. He made me wait in the cold for a bit over an hour. Not to mention it was snowing that day at 1 am. After I threaten to call the police to let me up and talk to his boss, as well as write a review he got nervous. I tried calling his boss but it came to the reception phone where he was working and he answered. I was frustrated at that point he finally after knowing I was serious about calling the police. Re asked me for my address again I told him I was not sure because we move a lot but I told home the state and we he said yes that’s was the state I knew it was my father address which I told him. And he finally let me up! Another then that that hotel would’ve received a 3/5. I’ve never never had that...
