brand new waterpark here on island. I have been a island resident my entire life. nothing like this has ever been built here. super clean, nice restrooms, locker rental, and cabana rentals. very limited number of season passes were available this year.
pros-clean friendly staff pretty tasty food plenty of chairs layout of park allows you to see your kids from every area. 4 total water slides (a slower twisty one) and a very fast straight drop. lazy river is relaxing. area for the small kids to play (small slides for smaller kids under 48 inches tall). that area stays probably the busiest of the entire park. my 12 year old daughter loves going. if you are local to the area, and go alot season pass is the only way to go, otherwise it's a rip off. 22.99 per day per adult adds up really quick. free sunscreen! the tiki bar has jenga and corn hole. also a nice sandy beachy environment. 1500 guest capacity. very small crowds, all guests have been great, (not being disruptive and doing stupid things like feeding the seagulls) several large umbrellas throughout that provide shade, be forwarned though, all the shady areas fill up VERY QUICKLY. so if your not there right at 10 am when they open, your chances of getting a chair in the shade is VERY SLIM.
cons- -no outside food or drink (however, you can bring a water bottle in and keep it in your bag). they also don't allow you to bring in coolers. -food is very expensive. burger and small fries (with no drink) was $9.50 or so. -bottled water alone is close to $3.00 by the time you pay the tax. -bar is insanely expensive, 1 mixed drink (crown and cranberry) ran me $8.50 -the concession line moves Very slowly, and there isn't a separate line for just Gatorade/soda/water. So, if you just want something to drink, you have to wait 20 minutes plus because everyone else is ordering food. there kitchen is way to small to keep up with the demand. if you want a Gatorade, the cashier has to walk back to the cooler and get it, they don't have a big cooler where you can grab one and just pay for it. i realize that this is VERY first season and there are always kinks when something new comes to town, but it's not even been all that busy when i have gone and the concession line is always backed up. beer is the normal 3.00 to 4.00 per can range. -cabana rental (has loveseat and curtains to block the sun, will set you back 60.00. that is insane. but, the appear to be a hit, every day i have been every single one has been occupied. you have to reserve one online at their website. can accommodate 8 people.
all in all, i recommend this. it's alot of fun. just be prepared to spend ALOT on the concessions and drinks. if they could make the prices just a little more down to earth and offer water fountains, i think this place...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of visiting Maui Jacks waterpark in Chincoteague, Virginia, and I must say, it was a fantastic experience. While the park may be small in size, it is perfect for families looking for a fun day out.
One of the highlights of Maui Jacks is the lazy river. It was incredibly enjoyable to float along the gentle current, soaking up the sun and enjoying the relaxing atmosphere. The lazy river is a great way to unwind and spend quality time with loved ones.
Although the park may not have a wide variety of slides, the ones they do have are a lot of fun. The slides provided a thrilling experience for both kids and adults alike. It's a great way to add some excitement to your day at the waterpark.
One thing I appreciated about Maui Jacks was the abundance of seating with shade. It was nice to have a place to relax and take a break from the sun. The ample seating ensured that everyone in our group had a comfortable spot to rest and recharge.
The children's area at Maui Jacks is a good size and offers plenty of entertainment for the little ones. They can splash around in the shallow pools, enjoy the water features, and have a blast with the interactive play structures. It's a safe and enjoyable space for kids to have fun and make lasting memories.
When it comes to food, Maui Jacks offers what you would expect at a waterpark. While the options may not be gourmet, they are convenient and satisfying. It's a great way to refuel and keep the energy levels up during your visit.
Cleanliness is a top priority at Maui Jacks, and it shows. The park is very clean, and the staff works diligently to ensure a tidy and hygienic environment for all visitors. It's refreshing to see such attention to cleanliness in a waterpark setting.
The staff at Maui Jacks are incredibly friendly and always willing to help. They go above and beyond to ensure that guests have a positive experience. Their cheerful demeanor and willingness to assist add to the overall enjoyment of the park.
Lastly, I must mention that Maui Jacks honors a veterans discount. This is a wonderful gesture of appreciation for those who have served our country. It's heartwarming to see a waterpark recognizing and honoring our veterans.
In conclusion, Maui Jacks waterpark in Chincoteague, Virginia, may be small in size, but it is perfect for families looking for a fun day out. With its enjoyable lazy river, thrilling slides, ample seating with shade, and a good-sized children's area, there is something for everyone to enjoy. The park is clean, the staff is friendly, and they even offer a veterans discount. I highly recommend Maui Jacks for a memorable and enjoyable...
Read moreIf I could give zero stars, I would also. When the group I was with arrived, we couldn't believe what we saw - I thought this can't be it, for $30.99, it is so not worth it. I could have gone to my community pool, which would have been much cleaner, comfortable, and at a cost of $6, that would have offered a lazy river, 2 slides and an olympic size swimming pool, with diving board, a kiddie pool and wading pools for kids, along with other fun water pools that are interactive. I booked a cabana and because their website doesn't have your options to purchase all on one page, when I booked it was mid-day on Thursday, 8/17 - purchased tickets for 5 people. Mind you, never receiving confirmation of my purchase - which I think was intentional, because their system had me purchasing a cabana for the day that I booked the cabana and the 5 tickets which was for Sunday (8/20). Had I received confirmation I would have been able to call them right away to let them know that the reservation date was wrong for the cabana, so when we arrived, they told me that they were sold out of cabanas, and that my reservation was for 8/17, not 8/20. Even though we paid in advance, we too had to wait in a a very long line.
The cleanliness of the property was very disappointing: It is very clear that they do not hose down the property; while walking, I had pieces of concrete poking into my feet, bird poop and feathers were all over the place on the concrete, and while trying to decide where to situate our stuff, there were at least 5 lounge chairs that were completely covered in bird poop. My family and I left after being so disgusted.
A friend told me about this place, I called him and told him "not a good idea to recommend this place to anyone". Then yesterday, this same friend told me that another friend of his and his family came to Maui on Monday and couldn't believe the condition of the place and they too left and headed to Ocean City, just as we did on Sunday.
We drove 3 1/2 hours to get there, but for the price, this place is so not worth any of the headaches experienced there ...... they got (STOLE) $261 dollars from me this time, but it will NEVER...
