This is one of our favorite places to eat on the Island. Food is delicious! Husband got the Chincoteague Classic tacos (beef) which were good, but he wished he added some spice to it so those of you who like spice, grab a bottle. They were all being used and had been taken to other tables. Kids each got 2 tacos, one beef (not shredded) and one chicken. Daughter said the beef was amazing- flavor was great! Son loved the juiciness of the chicken, but said having the lettuce is a must bc it adds a crunch. I had the Chicken City, which is by far my favorite one to get! Topped with black beans and corn in a creamy sauce was perfect. I should have ordered 3! Another added bonus was the live music, which we had never gotten to experience there before. He did a great job playing songs that reached all audiences. He even fulfilled my husband’s Green Day request. Being that there were a handful of people there to see him play and it was a beautiful night, it was busy! We did get a table right before our food was ready, which worked out. Wish there were a few more tables in the screened in porch area or outside by the bike rack. The only downside to this visit was the bar line and service. The bar seems to have been recently updated, now has seating for about 12 people, which is a nice addition. Unfortunately we were not sitting at the bar, just waiting in line for drinks. This line was very slow. The three bar tenders seemed to be in no hurry to move customers through the line. Husband stood in bar line while I stood in food line. I ordered, stood and listened to the musician play at least 3 songs, got a table, got our food and he still was not out of the bar line. The margarita was delicious and the food was amazing so that all made up for the wait! This is a...
Read moreMy time in chincoteague was pretty good. Before showing up I was a bit sceptical that I'd find a resturaunt that wasn't just a tourist beach town diner or highway rest stop chain. When passing picos on the way to the beach I thought it was just a little building with a window where you grab and go. I was very happy and surprised to see both inside and outside dining options! The sun was high when we went but a nice beachy breeze rolled through making both covered outdoor and screened indoor great sit down spots! The people at the windows were very patient and friendly. While waiting I witnessed them navigate a VERY large order and a person with a restricted diet substituting things, while a line wrapped around the porch. No problem for them at all.
The food was phenomonal, not just like pretty good, but high quality and very generous portions. My wife got 4 Tacos thinking they'd be tiny. She only ate two, they were more like mini burritos!
My bowl was packed with all the right portions, a good mix of rice/veggie/protein.
I'm not sure if they make their own hotsauce, they have bottles around for use. And that Garlic habenero was an awesome Inclusion!
They also had this blueberry pretzel salad that was a special. It looks like they change up what they offer and that made me want to check each day I was there!
Its right up the street from jellystone so if you're camping here I would check it out!
I write a lot of reviews and visit a lot of places. But picos is for sure a staple when we return to chincoteague. We will be...
Read moreI found this place on Google maps and I am so happy I did. It is a very small place and they have a small menu but everything on it is fresh and delicious. I ordered three different tacos for each of the adults and even the men were struggling to finish at the end. The Pico was fresh and they didn’t spare the cilantro which is just how I like it. We had a chicken, a fish and a shrimp taco and the favorite hands down was the one with shrimp in it. The toppings are not exactly what you expect if all you ever had was Taco Bell, but if you are adventurous enough to try different things you will not be disappointed. It is a little pricey (almost $5 a taco and $15 for a taco bowl that contains the ingredients for three tacos) but knowing how packed each taco is I would recommend two per adult with a side of Pico and chips. The kids had a quesadilla meal that seemed to have a half pound of cheese on it and it was served on a frisbee that they got to take home. Happy kids, 😀! Fresh lemonade with free refills was the cherry on top. Service was excellent and even though there was a line out the doors when we got there (excellent sign) things moved very fast. Even the guy cleaning up was very pleasant and engaged us in friendly conversation. I highly recommend this place for a meal before or after visiting the beach. Also check out the Chincoteague Museum and take a gander at the rockets at NASA Wallops Flight Facility...
