San Diego County Library – Bonita-Sunnyside Branch — Attraction in Chula Vista

A modern county branch location that packs a decent selection in a modest sized space. Being a relatively newer building the facilities are in very good condition, and is located along Bonita Rd. across the Bonita Centre shopping center, and alongside the Chula Vista Golf Course trail. There are several chairs, desks, and seats and computers to use, though the library can get quite crowded with other library users. This however did not hamper me in getting a computer to use, or browse the shelves during my visits. They also have a nice area in the back to sit and enjoy a relatively panoramic view of the trail, golf course, and Rohr Park in the distance. It is a San Diego County Branch location, which is different than the library systems that are city specific. Therefore a San Diego County Branch Library Card is necessary to check out any material, or use the computers. If you do not have one, the friendly librarian staff are more than glad to be of assistance. Sign up! The librarian cannot wait to kick people out by 4pm. I hope they understand that people goes there for multiple resources, but they don't seem to enjoy having people to utilize their facilities. I always thought librarian are resourceful, willing to help, pointing out where to find information. With the exception of 2 librarians, the rest of the staffs are just processing people and waiting for 4pm closing time. During the early part of the pandemic, it's understandable to close at 4pm, but most places already lifted covid19 restrictions, back to normal hours. However, this library just want an easy job, i.e go home at 4pm! They have enough staffs to rotate for longer hours but they don't care about people who really depend on its resources. I love coming to this library. They have it nice and clean and organized. It's much easier to check out books with their new system. I hadn't been inside the newly remodeled library until just recently so it was nice to see it for the first time. I really wish they had remodeled the bathroom. It's still messy inside and there are never paper towels to dry my hands. It's quite dark as well. Other than that it's a nice library. And the ladies in the bookstore are friendly and helpful.
