Gamble-Nippert YMCA — Attraction in Cincinnati

7/10/19...My 9 year old son recently enjoyed attending the swimming intro at the Y. The (female) instructor, who was my son's instructor, was very pleasant, professional & patient. Although the instructor didn't know it, I wasn't able to be in the pool area, because of my health problems. I sat in the lobby & watched through the window (I took my son to class on the first & last day & his Dad took him the other times). On the last day, she noticed I was looking in from the window in the lobby & paused to allow me to continue taking pictures of her working with my son. Much appreciated! My son is looking forward to going back (different location) for future programs/activities. 5/5 stars for swimming intro program! I took 2 stars away from my overall review because of the behavior/lack of respect some of the youth members have for others. My son couldn't really be himself (not the swimming instructors fault) because some of the things we saw/heard (throughout the Y), aren't what we're used to. I understand the staff can't contol/discipline these youth, but, a little bit of respect goes a long way & this part of our experience makes me not want to send him to anymore programs at this location. My husband and I have been members for about 10 years. This place has gone downhill very fast in the last 3 years so we joined another gym but keep our membership paid in full so I can get a quick workout in on the fly if time is an issue. We love to sauna, steam and whirlpool but 9/10 times one, two or all three amenities are broken. Tonight I called ahead to be sure the whirlpool was open and the guy on the phone confirmed it was. When we got off work we headed over, only to be super disappointed the whirlpool was in fact closed. This happened once in January too, same situation. We ended up going to the Blue Ash T that day because we had the time. The facility on a Saturday night has a lot to be desired too. Smelly bathrooms, little girls unaccompanied by adults running into the men’s room (7 years old). Last week a fight broke out and police cars were on the premises for a good bit. There is one lady in kids club that neglected my baby while I was working out with my husband one night on a Tuesday. My son was in there and told me all about what happened it had to be the other child care worker in the room for my 11 month old at the time to get comforted after leaving her in the car seat for fifteen to twenty minutes. The director Sarah takes up for her for this action as well. Now the other child care workers are amazing but it takes one person to ruin a good thing. I no longer can workout with my husband at night time because of her leaving her in her car seat crying and then now I can’t workout in the mornings because of her as well. So I pretty much can’t workout now and will have to drive twenty minutes to go to the CLIPPARD YMCA. She has shorter dark roots with blond hair and she’s tan and about 5 ft something.
