MUST RESERVE!!!!
$$$$ 2 people - 2ice tea 2 X bacon burgers - 1 with fries and 1 with tots 15% tip $60.86 ($30.43/person)
we’ve been going here for years and originally going to the nations that is in downtown over the ride area and when this nations popped up by taking over the old firehouse we were super excited. Absolutely must have the tater tots. The food is still great years later. It has been a couple years since we have been to this location and things have certainly changed number one you must absolutely reserve a table no matter what. I never thought that a burger place would have such a demand for reservations again the burgers are really good and made to order however it’s still a burger place that serves alcohol. Atmosphere was six out of 10. food was 10 out of 10 Price was quite surprising at the end of the night. It was just my son and I we ordered two iced teas and two piggy burgers are two bacon burgers with extra bacon I got french fries and he got tater tots. at the end of it all it was $53 for two people and our waitress highlighted a 22% tip on the assumption that that’s what I was going to give which I thought was pretty audacious. I found the button that gave me the option to put other and I did 15% tip. I will tip according to everything involved from service atmosphere cleanliness food and attention and I felt 15% was generous for this evening. I am not the person that gives gratuitous tips just to make people feel good or make...
Read moreNation Kitchen & Bar has operated in Pendleton since 2015, and their newest spot in Westwood opened in late 2020. The Pendleton location isn't especially kid-friendly, so it is not on our list of regular spots. However, if the Westwood location was closer to our home, it would most likely be in our rotation of lunch/dinner spots. It's brighter, lively, and offers a kids menu.
My family and I arrived shortly after 11 on a Saturday and were immediately seated at a high-top table. The restaurant is not huge, but they do make good use of the space that they do have. Also looks like a patio would be in use with better weather. The space was formerly the Engine Co. Number 35 firehouse and a number of artifacts from that time can still be found inside and out.
Brunch is offered early on Saturday and Sunday, but they also serve the full menu during that time, which I was delighted about. I ordered the phoenix sandwich with a fried buttermilk chicken breast, Nashville hot sauce, spicy jalapeno slaw, chipotle mayo, and pickles on a challah bun ($12). This was a very good sandwich, spicy but not over the top. I especially liked the slaw. I also enjoyed a side of tater tots ($3). My wife and kids enjoyed the burgers. Note that any specialty burger can have the beef subbed for a turkey or...
Read moreNation is a great little bar and restaurant tucked away in the heart of Westwood. It is conveniently located next to several other nice places to check out. This area attracts all walks of life, from college aged to older folks. Inside there is a bar with probably 15 different beers on tap.
The seating is somewhat limited, so expect a wait for a table during busier times like weekends around dinner time. There is an outdoor courtyard with fire pits, along with a bunch of picnic tables and a convenient walk-up carryout window. Parking can also be scarce, as their parking lot is small.
The menu is concise and largely what you would expect for bar food. The food however exceeds expectations. We tried the the Burger, Corn dogs, Bean Burger, and tater tots and all tasted phenomenal. The burger buns really make the burger, and the tots are the best I've ever had. Portions were smaller than expected but reasonably given the cost of the meal.
Wait staff is friendly and polite, and the facility is...
