Our company rented Liberty Exhibition Hall multiple times for public events, but unfortunately, our overall experience was increasingly disappointing. The venue owners verbally agreed to help promote our public events - a gesture we greatly appreciated. However, they ultimately made no effort to follow through on this promise. In an ironic twist, they even asked our event organizer to promote their venue and future events during our programming. This one-sided expectation left a sour impression. The venue’s rental fee structure is based on bar revenue (e.g., if the agreed rental fee is $1,000 and the bar makes $800, the renter pays the remaining $200). While this sounds reasonable in theory, in practice the bar sales were poorly documented. Bartenders, often overwhelmed or inexperienced, were tasked with calculating revenue - by jotting numbers on napkins mid-shift. On more than one occasion, the only "receipt" we received was a photo of napkin scribbles, which was both unprofessional and unacceptable for proper record-keeping. Due to these inconsistencies, our staff began tracking individual bar tabs to ensure accuracy, as we had growing concerns that bar numbers were being misrepresented — ultimately impacting how much money we owed. Another issue was the continual rise in rental fees, supposedly due to "improvements to the space." Yet with each booking, we noticed a decline in cleanliness and organization. At our final event, we arrived to sticky floors, restrooms that smelled of urine, and scattered equipment obstructing our setup. Our event coordinator had to help clean, move heavy items, and prepare the space - which delayed our event setup. The lack of professionalism and disregard for a long standing client relationship made it clear that Liberty Exhibition Hall did not value our partnership. As a result, we have decided to take our...
Read moreWent there for swing dancing.
Not exactly a hopping place. I'm used to the joint down in Indy where there are lots of single men and women (probably 150 people on a give night).
I come in here and pretty much everyone is already paired off. Although, there were a lot of men on the sidelines, and relatively few women. The women were all downcast and looked disinterested. It didn't even look like they were there to dance.
I saw this one girl doing the motions alone and I asked her to dance. She agreed and explained to me that she's a lead. I didn't know the moves and so I told her "That works for now".
A very large woman then walked up to the girl and they side hugged. After that they proceeded to dance together. I ought to have expected more grace, but I guess she was overcompensating (and perhaps she wanted to demonstrate why women aren't typically leads).
I looked to the guy next to me and he was dancing by himself. I walked away concluding that this place isn't...
Read moreLove the versatility of this space. You can tell the owner(s) have put a lot of effort into remodeling the space over the past year or so.
I've been in the space for a couple different events and it is very nice. The temperature is regulated fairly well for being a second floor space.
My only Qualms would be with the amount of stuff that can be unpredictably lying around in the space depending on what event had recently occurred.
Maybe a solution would be to have someone who regularly organizes and or cleans the space in between events or renters of the space need to agree to store things in their designated space and be held accountable if not.
The work put into the space is evident and I appreciate the...
