Summary: Nice people, good food, nice space, but for our visit it was understaffed and we got little to no service.
Details: My family of 4 vegans dropped in here for a Saturday breakfast during an overnight stay. All the tables were taken so we sat at the bar. We had the emily sandwhich, breakfast sandwhich, the breakfast sandwhich on a croissant, the greens sandwhich, chick nuggets, pudlas, cherry and almond donuts, and coffee. The prices are reasonable but the portions are also fairly small to match the price.
Convenient parking across the street, cute place, friendly staff, a nice but not huge selection of tasty baked goods, sandwhiches ranged from excellent (emily) to ok (beakfast), the chick nuggets were a bit crumbly and just ok, the pudlas were tasty but dry and there wasn't enough of the fantastic chutney to compensate, and the coffee was good.
When we arrived at 10:45a the line was 2 people and before we ordered it was 10 deep The service we did get was ok, but the busy-ness of the place made it impossible to get any additional service. My daughter never got her tea (that could have been ordering confusion though as it seems beverages were all self serve), nobody told us about the self serve water so we went without water, I was told about the self serve coffee when I ordered, so I was able to get got my coffee.
I think if there was another person on staff our vist would have...
Read moreUnfortunately we paid for a DF and GF cake. I wouldn’t recommend it. It was a lot of money $45, the design was… disappointing (and I’m being kind here). The 3 kids we tried to feed this to were all confused and wouldn’t eat it. Texture, flavor, design all lacking.. listen I don’t like leaving poor reviews anywhere. But maybe just look around the city for another bakery.
I made a quick trip to Kroger and got our rescue cake to save the party.
Addition: My kids are unable to have both gluten and dairy. We have had many GF and DF things in our life (including cakes). You are making some rather large assumptions. Telling us were "cruel". We have been in and out of the hospital with our son multiple times because of his digestion and stomach. We did have friends here with the kids though ... because it is a birthday. And they are not restricted... And I at the very least didn't want to let them down. So the cake went home with them. I don't mind the price necessarily but if you can't bake a good cake with out the gluten .. then it is totally ok not to offer that.
Looking at other reviews who have also had this problem and seeing how the companies responses are very defensive and rude when not in their favor rather than trying to here their customers out... that screams a...
Read moreI ordered a gf 6-inch cake for my gender reveal party. I’m allergic to gluten, eggs and dairy, so I was very excited that they made these cakes. I was looking forward to eating the cake almost as much as finding out the gender of my baby, since I don’t often have baked goods I can eat at my fingertips. Sadly, it was extremely disappointing. It honestly tasted like two spongy pieces of cardboard (totally lacking flavor) with a thin layer of hard frosting between, the texture of something you might decorate the outside of a cake with, and covered with extremely sweet/sugary frosting on the outside (no creaminess at all to the frosting… I know they don’t use butter, but there are other ways). I got an immediate headache/ stomachache from the sweetness and we’re not going to eat anymore after the one piece my husband and I shared. Which is saying a lot since I have a sweet tooth. Ultimately, I could have made a cake myself 10 hat tasted times better. I’m sad we paid $35 for it. I should add that I’ve had these allergies a long time and have had/ paid for much better tasting baked goods. I’m new to the city, so I’m hoping this isn’t the best...
