Gulow Street is so awesome. I went in for a little Thursday night date night. The sesame noodles were to die for. My partner got the breakfast sandwich which was also phenomenal. I went back again on Saturday night because I just had to have the sesame noodles again. My partner tried the salmon salad sandwich which was also really great. How they did the cucumbers on the sandwich was just out of this world. I love that they only have seven things on the menu because they can just focus on doing those seven things really well. There was live music in the front and the place was very lively. I discovered that they have a patio out back which is so great. They have a heater out there and it really had that sitting on my back porch, comfortable kind of feeling. I know when it warms up a little bit that I will be on their patio all the time. How can you say no to affordable food, great atmosphere, good music, and wonderful people? This is my new favorite place in Northside.

This place is a gem! I'm glad I found one of my favorite places to get food and a drink. I had the hamburger which was simple and delicious. Had just the right seasoning and toppings. I also had to get a small order of the sesame noodles. Those noddles are a must. If I was bold enough I probably would have gone to the kitchen and shook the cook/ chef hand. The service was outstanding. The bartender was friendly and welcoming. I loved that the menu was small. I will definitely be going back to try some more of this simple and delicious food.

I went here due to being one of the only places still serving food. I found the food to be mediocre. The bolognese sauce had some decent flavor, but the dish did not have enough to satisfy me. I paid extra for garlic bread which I feel should have come with the dish. The bread I received was not garlic bread, it was literally buttered toast. The servers were friendly and very attentive. A great experience from them! This place is pretty small, not much ambiance or decor to please the eye.

I have been coming to Gulow for a couple months, now, and had always had a great experience until last Sat. night. The bartender got my son's order wrong. My son had explained that he had a dairy, and gluten allergy, and wanted a side of greens with his salmon salad, bcs he could not eat the bread...(this is what he orders here, on a regular basis, with no issues). Instead, the bartender ordered him a full side salad, with cheese on it, and charged us an extra $5.00 for the salmon. When my son came up, and let him know, that he didn't know that the salad was going to have cheese on it, bcs it never had in the past, the bartender ordered him another one with no cheese; which he also charged us for. When I came up to pay the bill, I asked to see an itemized copy before he ran my card...which seemed to make him mad. When I tried to explain the issues I had with the charges, the bartender argued with m; to the point that he was yelling at me at the bar; and said that was what my son ordered, and it was our fault we didn't know there was cheese on it, so he charged us for the 2nd salad. I told him I wasn't going to pay for the second salad, and I shouldn't have had to pay for the first one, he angrily deleted it. Then, I tried to call in today, to talk to a manager, who was not there, and another bartender tried fielding the things I took issue with, only to be met with more of the same argumentative behavior, then she hung up on me; but not before she threw in that, "the bartender that had done these things was the owner's brother, so I don't know what you expect is going to happen"... Nice, really nice. Great customer...

I was excited to try this place, brought my family (including my 92 year old mother) for an early Mother’s Day meal. I phoned ahead and was told they did not accept reservations. We gave it a go and really wish we hadn’t. After getting my mother up the uneven and triangular stairs leading to the front door we were greeted by no one. We had a party of 5 and there were only 2-tops left. As we looked around for a host or for the bartender to notice we needed help, absolutely no one attempted to assist. I went to the bar and before I could say a word, the bartender said “you need menus” and threw 3 menus at me. As we shared the 3 menus amongst the 5 of us, I started to pull 2 of the small tables together. The bartender snapped “don’t move the tables”. Another party was getting ready to leave so they showed us to their table and bussed it for us. As we sat there at the used, dirty table we all were dumbfounded by the incredible lack of customer service. We just couldn’t work up the desire to stay. We will never be back. Thankfully the Park Diner was open and saved the day with their friendliness and...
