I was initially really looking forward to staying at this hotel because of its location and other reviews that said it was quiet and peaceful. This was not my experience.
Cons:
I maybe got 2 hours of sleep. I was woken up multiple times throughout the night by the people in the room next to me banging and slamming things around until 1:00AM. Each time I woke up, the motion sensor on the ceiling right above the bed (no idea what this is for?! lights maybe?? see attached photo), started flashing green at me, and would not stop unless I was perfectly still. I have NEVER experienced a motion sensor in a hotel room before. Only this one. I literally could not sleep all night and woke up exhausted and miserable.
Similar to another person's review, there is a very strong perfumey scent throughout the hotel, including in the rooms. I'm not sure what fragrance they're putting in the air, but artificial fragrances are literally toxic. I woke up extremely congested and unable to breathe out of my nose, and also had a splitting headache my whole stay.
Similar to other people's reviews about the internet, I could not get it to connect to my computer. It said "connected," but I could not get on the internet which didn't make any sense. I don't know how they expect people to travel here for business purposes, and not be able to use the internet.
I think my total for the night was $350 with tax, which to me was absolutely not worth it.
Pros: Hotel staff were welcoming and helpful. The on-site restaurant is convenient for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Good location close to downtown, but definitely would not walk around here at night. Clean and well-kept.
Overall, I would absolutely not stay here again because of the cons mentioned above. You are better off staying in one of the...
Read moreShuttle not reliable. Only reason I booked this hotel was because it offered the shuttle service which the bride and groom set up ahead of time. I started asking how the shuttle service worked at 830am-850am the day of, and I was told to check back later. Checked back at 145-2pm and was told they still didnt know and check back later. Checked back at 330pm and not only was it not set up yet, the front desk told us to back away so they could check in someone new before they called the shuttle for us. We were going to be late at that point so I just drove us there which meant I couldnt drink that night. I brought this up the next morning to the front desk and they gave me excuse after excuse, never said sorry and didnt offer any kind of discount or anything to rectify this situation. They didnt get the shuttle set up in a timely fashion, never offered to help set up alternative options like taxi or uber. They kept telling us they were working on it, until it was too late for us to arrange anything else. if you are booking this hotel because it has the shuttle service DO NOT DEPEND ON IT. Had I known they wouldnt be providing this service, I wouldve went to a much cheaper hotel. And they have weird stains in the bathrooms. (Yes multiple rooms had this weird stain behind the toilet.) UPDATE: I emailed them asking for a call back and they said they would respond in five business days. They didn’t reach out so I emailed again. Now they are claiming we never set up the shuttle which is not what they said the day of. No apologies, nothing offered. Just excuses and placing blame on us (the wedding party). If I could leave a zero star...
Read moreWhat a strange hotel. It reminds me more of an institutional facility. Just getting around can be difficult if you are not very strong. Every door and elevator requires your key card, imagine that when you have 2 or more pieces of luggage. The doors are heavy and spring loaded to slam shut in a few seconds, very dangerous. The bathroom shower doesn't have a door on it so water sprays all over the floor and the cold breeze is chilling. The bench seat is about 3-4 inches deep, no one could really sit on it safely. It feels like a prison shower. Only one hook in the bathroom. Toilet paper hangs precipitously on a metal rod and immediately falls off nto the floor when you try to roll out paper. The TV is set to time out and shut off after about a half hour, especially annoying during a movie as it takes you back to the main hotel screen. The lighting system is nice but figuring out how to use all the switches is annoyingly confusing, how about leaving instructions? All night long, every time I moved in my sleep a sensor would turn on a light waking me up. The HVAC is very nice, easy to use thermostat. Front desk clerks were disorganized, clearly not communicating from one shift to the next so prepare yourself to have to explain any out of ordinary details over and over to each new clerk. Food and drink prices are shocking. Garage is nice but be prepared to use your door key 3x before you can drive into it while attempting to get your car much too close to the key card sensor. Imagine this in freezing weather. So more institutional than any of the other Marriotts I have stayed in which were home-like...
