Martin Luther King Jr Memorial Park at Manhattan Square — Attraction in City of Rochester

The outdoor ice skating rink during winter is definitely the highlight in my opinion. Currently it's $7.50 per adult for admission and skate rental. If you're a new skater I definitely suggest coming on weekdays instead of busy weekends as there's no walls/rails to lean on and the weekend volume of people can be overwhelming. During the summer the rink becomes a splash pool/fountain area for kids sometimes. There's no free public lot. There is a fair amount of street parking that is only metered during standard m-f business hours, or if street parking isn't for you there is a paid parking garage as well. This is a monumental urban park with a lot of Rochester historical events: Battle-of-the-Band, Garth Fagan Summer dances, Christmas-n-the Park, Thursday's Bands-n-the Park. There is also a wading pool, a dynamic rental space for special events in the lower quad & an ice skating rink during the colder months. I feel that the City of Rochester could provide a MORE 'detailed maintenance service' at this site for beautification purposes. Great show. Too small of a venue for the amount of tickets they sold. Nearly impossible to move once inside. Poorly run entrance gate/ticket/security line. Two, two slowly moving lines to get in. Guy running the event said "take it up with the city", not "sorry we were not staffed for this event correctly". They have had GTLO perform before and it was packed then, 2 years ago.
