Hey yall I'm back at it again! I feel like it's been a hot minute since my last actual food review buy I won't hold ya now! Why we went: Today is my 20th birthday so I decided to go to Rochester to go out to eat with my Rochesterian friend. We choose Dinosaur bbq! It's my first time going and her second time going! So we were excited! First impression look wise: On the outside it really sticks out ya know. Looks kinda flashy and it's screaming at people to come in lol. Coming in there are regular seats and tables and booths with a nice view in the window as you will see if you swipe to the second thing (video) Service: My friend arrived early and we had a reservation for 4pm. Waitress didn't hesitate to seat her as she waited for me. Waitress was kind, patient, and quick with our orders! Very food service! What did we order?: Because it's my birthday, I decided to order a pear mocktail. I wanna feel all adult so I decided to try that. Food wise, I got the 3 meat combo with 2 sides. So I got pulled pork, cheddar cheese and jalapeño sausage, and chicken with Mac and cheese and BBQ baked beans with some meat in there. My friend got the ribs How'd it taste?: The chicken was so good! Had a smokey flavor to it! I paired it with the Habanero sauce that they had on the table. The sauce made it twice as good! Pulled pork was also good and I poured their original BBQ sauce onto it! The sausage was my favorite. There was a jalapeño stuffed into it and some cheese but it isn't overwhelming and burning you with heat. It is just right. So if you're not a fan of spice I think it's still good to try. Meaty and flavorful! My friend felt the ribs were questionable based on unfamiliar flavoring but it tasted good the more she ate of it! The Mac and cheese was fantastic! We have never in our lives ever had Mac and cheese that tasted like that. It is very flavorful serving you a nice punch! It's so different than anything I've had. The baked beans were good too and the meat making or more filling. You also get cornbread for free I suppose The drink tasted a bit weird though. A little too sour for my liking. Pricing: Good for the amount you get! ⭐ x 4

We were in Rochester for the day and looked this place up and went there for dinner. We were beyond pleased. We knew we were in for some good eats when we were at the intersection right by the restaurant and the sweet smell of BBQ filled our nostrils and we all looked at each other with a smirk meaning "ohhhh Yeah" Seeing the BBQs and smokers just outside the entrance doors was awesome and we new with seeing those plus the beautiful smells that we were in for some good grub. We got there an hour earlier then out rezy and the took us in right away. We had the fried green tomatoes to start and they were great and the dipping sauce that came with it complemented it is so well. The wife and two kids shared the dine for two which was a full rack of ribs with 4 sides which were the mac n cheese, greens with turkey, cole slaw and home cut fries. All the sides were delishes. I had the trio plate and chose the ribs, brisket and chicken wing. The ribs tasted amazing especially the smoke bark outside was great. The only thing i would say is the rib was a bit on the dry side but still enjoyable and there with BBQ sauces and hot sauces at the table if needed and they tasted good too. The brisket was juicy and the bark was tastyyyyy. The chicken wings were probably one of the best I've had from a BBQ joint. Perfect sauce and chare on the outside and the meat was juicy and so tasty. The two sides I got were the cole slaw and cajun corn. Corn had a nice kick to them. The kerrnels were not the juiciest but again still good. I would tell anyone and everyone they have to eat there if ever in the area. The service was top notch and she always made sure we were good and the food came out fairly quick. All in all we loved it.

We’re happy that we stumbled on this rather incredible BBQ-joint that does everything right and hangs with the best. From the comic security dude by the door to the super helpful server, we got more than our money’s worth. Tucked inside the Lehigh Valley Railroad Station built in 1905 and surrounded by - and straddling over - the gorgeous High Falls, there’s plenty of room at the tables, by the bar, outside by the shining motorcycles, or off up somewhere by the parking lot, for a rare meal full of hot flavors and slow cooked juicy BBQ. I had the sampler (ribs, shrimp, brisket) plus a local ale and a thrashingly good cocktail (“Donkey Punch”), while the Mrs. got a solid vegetarian plate: the portabella with Mac n’ cheese and corn side. Starters were dynamite: deviled eggs and fried green tomatoes. The boy had plenty with the kids chicken fingers, mashed potatoes with gravy, and BBQ-beans. The server was a pro with good advice, and checked in regularly. Everyone was appreciated. Afterwards we walked around to the High Falls as the sun started to set, listening to the rushing water and pointing to the herons, gulls, and ducks. Bleached white tree trunks hung over the dam. When it’s good, it’s good.

Haven't been to Dinosaur in YEARS because I became vegan and there just were no options there. However, for a Father's Day celebration this weekend, my son suggested we try it out. I went online and found that they now offer a few vegan options: an Impossible burger, a rice and bean bowl, and a mushroom sandwich. I ordered the Impossible burger with a salad and black beans and rice. The burger was perfectly cooked and even had come char, a flavor we vegans rarely get to enjoy! It was delicious!! My husband ordered the rice bowl with mushrooms. It was fairly small and, because their corn bread is not plant based, it came without bread, so he did finish it not quite sated. I gave him my beans and rice to fill him up and he was good. I would definitely recommend they make the rice dish bigger, especially for those who order it vegan. Everyone else in the group were meant eaters and very much enjoyed their dinners - and desserts! I would recommend that Dinosaur continue to think about ways to diversify their menu to accommodate plant based eaters, but this is a good start - and at least we can have a place at the table now!

Good smoked BBQ with limited sauce options. Tangy with a touch of vinegar or a mango habanero that’s a good sweet heat. Portion sizes are generous and pricing is reasonable for such a unique dining experience in downtown Rochester. We ordered the poutine and a pulled pork sandwich with Mac n cheese and a side of cornbread. The pork itself is good and doesn’t have a smoke flavor but just a good pork flavor; plus it’s super tender. The fries are fresh cut, and while they are generous with the meat, they were very stingy with the pimento cheese. My sandwich came with the creamy coleslaw and although a prefer a thicker cream coleslaw, it was good; especially with the mango habanero sauce. The mac and cheese was creamy but the pasta was undercooked and al-dente and didn’t have a good mouth feel. Cornbread is on the dry side but has a nice touch of sweetness to it; needed some honey butter to make it perfect. I think it was just an odd night based on pictures I’ve seen. Service was great and out waitress was very attentive. Food came out quickly and there was no wait on a Wed night. Parking is street only and limited.

Finally a decent meal today! . This place was true haven for voracious meatetarians like us! . In true American fashion, the servings were humongous!😂🤩😍😋👏🙌 . The chicken wings looked really good but the vinegar smell really threw me off. However, the CEO (birthday boy) and another friend thought they were way up there on the taste scale! . We ordered the Combo Plate Pick 2 and 1/2 Family Sizzlin’. . Between the two orders and the 18 chicken wings, we must have gotten over 10 lbs of baby back ribs, bbq chicken and briskets! Wowza! Not to mention the massive sides of salad, baked mac ‘n cheese, mashed potatoes and corn bread, we were literally in meat heaven. 🤩🤩🤩 . The briskets, baby back ribs and bbq chicken were all amazing and the baked mac ‘n cheese was incredible. . We thought we were going to finish everything since we were so hungry, but we ended up taking 2 big boxes to go still. . The CEO was very happy with his choice of venue for his birthday dinner.🙌👏😋😍🤩😮 . Will definitely come back when we’re in the area once again.
