While I have enjoyed this beach before, my partner and I's latest trip was ruined by the aftermath. While we were there the water was very smell, green, full of seaweed, and the swimming area was too shallow for adults to actually enjoy. The biggest reason that we will likely never go back is that the trip ended with my partner in the hospital for a bacterial infection. While in the water, my partner stepped on something that felt sort of sharp, it didn't hurt much so we dismissed it. That was July 4th. A couple days later we noticed blisters in the same spot. The blisters began to swell, hurt, and spread. We ended up in the ER and then observation at Strong as it was found to be a bacterial infection that had spread to lymph nodes in my partners legs. It is now the 29th and my partner is still fighting the infection via oral antibiotics and my have to be hospitalized again. We will not be returning to this beach any time soon, and not until the area has been tested. If you do still go, please wear swim shoes. I promise you do not want to deal with this kind...

A bit confused about some of the other reviews.

Lovely location and the scenery can be beautiful, but the water and the smell on the beach was horrible when I went with some friends on a Saturday afternoon. The water was filled with algae, dark green to the point it was almost black with a bunch of what looked like dust and dirt floating around. The smell of the water was so strong and filled the air, I also had an allergic reaction to something (I have never had an allergy attack that serious before, aside from times being around extreme pet dander).

If you’re going for just a stroll on the pier, great location. But if you’re looking for water to swim in and a nice beach experience, please avoid. You can see where the river outlets to the lake and...

I always loved Charlotte beach. Now it's full of dogs- although they shouldn't be there, dog mess, AND PIT BULLS.

NO ONE ENFORCES THE RULES.

THE LAST STRAW WAS US HAVING TO ARGUE WOWI A THUG THST WALKEd TO THE BEACH WITH A SO CALLED WOMAN WITH TWO KIDS, PUT THE PIT BULL IN THE HANDS OF A CHILD , WHO- WHO UNLEASHED THE PIT BULL INTO A CROWN OF CHILDREN.

IT WAS A BIG ARGUMENT AND TOLD HIM HE HAD NO BBUSINES ON THE BEACH WITH THE DOG ANYWAY!!!!

THERE HAS BEEN ABOUT FOUR INCIDENTS OF DOG FIGHTS ON THE BEACH IN TEO WEEKS, DO WE CHOOSE NOT...

It's an alright beach. The sand is pretty clean but the water is another story. We went and the water was roped off. Overall a great beach for going on a nice walk, having a picnic, tanning, or watching people play volleyball. There's a cute carousel there and a few restaurants and bars right on the water. For swimming I recommend Hamlin beach but you have to pay to get in.

The beach is beautiful and so quiet. There is a huge area to walk in and there is plenty of shade in the park. There is a lot of parking and the water is so clean here too. The walk way down to the light house is beautiful too. The birds are everywhere here and it adds to the beauty of this place.

Peaceful in the mornings before the younger crowds take over later in the day. Parking, never an issue just wish people would not leave there trash in the parking lot when there are trash cans all around the parking lot.
