I am very disappointed as to what Playland has become. It is no longer nostalgic for me. It took them 5 months to get back to me regarding my dissatisfaction of the pool closure for an entire month. In addition to that many rides are usually out of order, dirty and rusty. It is hard to get someone to open the gates to let you across to the paddle boats (if they are in service). The workers appear miserable and some even confused. I went to see a movie on the beach once and it was set up late. I’ve been buying season pass tickets for three years in a row and will not do it again. Read the reviews. Look at Playland’s responses asking people to reach out to the email address. Well don’t waste your time. I reached out before writing this and look where it got me after 5 months. They’re not following up with people who come into the office or emails unless you post to their social media. The truth is in MANY reviews here…see for yourself. So many won’t return. Why even ask people to reach out Playland if you are not willing to be accountable Playland? (read their response to me after I emailed the infamous “info@playland.com”…..it is in the attached picture). I will save that money and invest it into a park that cares about their customers. Moreover, after not getting a response for such a long time….the response I finally received was very cold and sounded like a form letter. I sent a follow up email and never heard from them again after they said they weren’t going to do anything because there’s fine print which condones and supports the above mentioned “attractions not being available from time to time”) Save your money or use it on another park. I wish I would have read these reviews. Many people experienced the same thing. Playland do BETTER. This park is washed up and so are my memories of this park, paddle boats, beach and pool. It’s very sad. Look at their response here. Why would I visit any areas of the park “that I still had access to” when the pool was out of service for a month based on the above? I was coming to enjoy the last part that was actually nice. That’s the primary purpose I purchased the pass not for the rundown rides that are open when they’re not getting maintenance. It’s unfortunate what occurred last summer at the pool which ultimately caused the long closure. I’m not sure why the investigation or follow up with agencies took a month or why it was at pass holders’ expense? I don’t believe that warrants being unavailable “from time to time”. That is the case with the rides. They just take turns putting them out of order and rotating the staff of young people who could care less about Playland. Why is frequent maintenance required? No updates just silence on Playland’s part regarding the pool. Read the reviews of other customers if I just sound like a disgruntled whiny pass purchaser. Next read Playland’s response to me after 5 months and think about what it’s actually saying about their feelings towards repeat customers…very disappointing. Read, evaluate and make your own conclusions....
Read moreThe trip to Rye was organized for inner city youths and their parents who are in a family shelter for homeless families. The purpose was to give the families a day of fun food and fellowship away from the inner city and all the issues the families are facing. I am a Community Outreach minister and was able to have this trip sponsored and paid for so it was free to all the families with transportation , breakfast, a BBQ luncheon and admission to the Theme park. There was an error made by the Park Administration having booked 2 separate groups for the same picnic area at the same time. My organization booked it first and we had all documents and receipts of payment to the Park. Subsequently another group had similar paperwork and receipts but a later date to which they originally booked. The error was not ours but we found ourselves surrounded by Westchester Police and Rye Police demanding to see our documents and receipts. About 10 officers total were surrounding our picnic area. Although they were not hostile the realness of being in a good space where we are supposed to have fun was compromised especially for these families of color. As a man of color my first reaction was to remove the children so they would not see any interaction that may become intense. Past experiences as a man of color i know that being completely in the right can sometimes go wrong without cause. As a man of God my second thought was to stay calm, answer all questions and show all the information they were asking for. Because we had all the documents to satisfy we had made our reservation first and the other was a double booking error made by Park Administration. The officers left without further incident and a park administrator came to our picnic area to apologize for the error. The fact that this happened at this particular time with such a vulnerable group of families just needing a day away from the inner to escape all their issues just for a day is something still bothering me. The families enjoyed the outing and didn't get interrupted by the incident but it is still bothering my spirit today. Im going to follow-up with this review with a letter directly to the Park Administration. I understand mistakes do and will happen but if checks and balances are in place to prevent these incidents from occurring it would make everyone visiting the Park for whatever reason regardless of color or economic status a more enjoyable experience. One idea is to have a meeting the night before to go over all the reservations for the following day with locations and times of reservations errors like this would be caught ahead of visitors arriving the next day and adjustments could be handled without the embarrassment of the police department surrounding you. as though a major crime...
Read moreFOR MANAGEMENT!! Your systems need to improve! I've been going to Rye Playland since I was a child. I know it's an older park, old rides, nothing compared to Six Flags but it's a good one day get away for kids. The staff seems to not care and something always goes wrong, or they run out, or send you to the wrong place every time I go. It's getting worse! This summer, 2024, I went on Catch a Wave and yes the conductor mentioned take off loose items hats, etc. he said it once everyone was buckled in and ride about to go! A few people said is it ok to leave hats on floor he said yes. Some dropped caps on floor away from ride. The ride blew everything over into a small area in front. After the ride we went to get our stuff and the conductor said we're not allowed. He does this all the time and I'm sure knew that would happen. A group of us had to walk to services at the entrance! Fill out a report! The young girl reviewed our form and said someone will get back to you in a few days! We all said, we're not from here, our stuff is a few inches behind the gate do you have a poll or our kids can go over. They said no. We went back demanding to get our stuff we see right in front of us and refuse to leave it. Finally 45 minutes later a smaller worker went over and got it. The workers all had "smirks" on their faces, which made you angrier for your stuff. I think it's a scam cause they want the nice expensive Yankees hats. One dad said his hat was expensive and it was nice! The system of telling people we'll get back to you in your "lost" item when it's right in front of them is ridiculous. Ride operators should have long retrieval sticks if they know that happens.. and this operator clearly knew that was going to happen! On another day, the hot dog truck told us they ran out of hotdogs in the middle of afternoon and we can get hotdogs at the pizza stand across the park. OF COURSE when we get there they say we don't serve hotdogs!! Then we walked back to go to another truck and within that travel time of back and forth.. they were serving hotdogs again. You need a lot of patience...
