I expected more not only as safety figures but as responsible adults. What a disappointment from the irresponsible children spectacle to the neglect of the Rye Beach Rangers and Lifeguards today. There was an inebriated unconscious minor on scene, it was reported to the lifeguard station and the rangers by several concerned people near them as they were not discreet. They boasted of drinking bottles of rum and everything. They continued to boast all around the unconscious young woman, she couldn’t be more than 110lbs if at the most 15/16 yrs old. She was completely unresponsive when the lifeguard first approached them, the lifeguard knew something was wrong and called in the rangers. They were questioned for a total sum of maybe 2 min. They were told she was seasick?! The Rangers and Lifeguards...they walked away and left them alone. The children continued to talk about their drinking earlier and how they ran out and how maybe they should leave soon as they had been caught and got lucky. More people reported the young unconscious woman at least 2 more times bc she remained unable to move as her friends were trying to tell her to get up. The Rangers and lifeguards approached them two more times trying to get them to admit she was drunk, which they did at some point and yet nothing was done for the young woman. The kids ended up hoisting her on their back and carrying her out. It seems the rangers and lifeguards were more concerned with them not being their problem than for the young woman’s health and safety. None of them could have been more than 17 years old. If not emergency services then at the very least their parents should have been called!...
Read moreTo be honest this beach was dirty…. Like bags of cookie wrappers in the water, plastic floating around. We paid almost 22 dollars per person expecting a maintained beach but were we surprised. On our way out I mentioned to the security that my only complaint was the beach was dirty. One said you’d be better off in Orchard beach in the Bronx as a joke. I told him he isn’t wrong… it’s ways cleaner then here compared to back in the days. It’s a shame - I would have rather paid 15 dollars for parking and sat on Orchards bigger beach with less trash. 60+ dollars for a wack beach lol never again.
The only good thing was the bar/restaurant next to the beach. They were playing Spanish music and seemed on the verge to invite us in for free since there was more life on the beach then the restaurant 🤣.
See you soon Rye,...
Read moreI wanted to post a review because I was very skeptical of coming here. I moved to Westchester county from Rockland county so I have always spent my summers at the Jersey Shore points. I wanted to try one of the beaches in Westchester because of the close proximity to where I live now. I was pleasantly surprised with the beach at Rye Playland. The cost to park and get to the beach is fair priced , plus they have chair and umbrella rentals if you need that. The food at the tiki bar is very good, it's a small menu but the taste is great. If you hold onto all the vouchers you get as you enter the park there are refunds. I didn't actually go into the water so I can't speak on that but the beach is clean and well kept. I will definitely be returning...
