I attended the "Rosé in Rye" event on 6/14/25. Great vibe & service minus one part of the entertainment. The Rosé and Rosé mixes were on point! The DJ had everyone rockin' with his mixes of music from a myriad of genres. My crew and I were jammin'! The charcuterie platter was lovely. The "island" buffet was plentiful yet bland. The other entertainment, a guy named Howie, who played the drums and cow bell set was good on those instruments, but I found him offensive in some of the masks he wore. He's a Caucasian man. He wore a Biggie Smalls mask with a jumbo gold chain and red pleather jacket followed by a President Barak Obama mask and then a Michelle Obama mask. The other masks he wore were of a horse and masquerade masks with large feathers. He also wore signs that, well, you had to be there to see. (Check photo) I reported to the manager Chris that I was enjoying the DJ and service but not "the other entertainment" (Howie) because he was wearing masks of Black people and no other races. After speaking with Chris, Howie came out with a Trump mask and walked all around the premises. When he wore the other masks, he stayed behind his drum set, didn't walk around. With all this said, you more than likely will have a great time if you attend the "Rosé in Rye" event and that DJ is there (oops didn't get his name). However, you have been warned of what other "entertainment" you might encounter. Enjoy... or...

I recently hosted my twins' high school graduation party at Barley Beach House, and I have to say, it was an absolute dream come true! We rented out the deck, which turned out to be the perfect spot for our celebration. From start to finish, the entire team—especially Ronni, our event manager, along with Edgar and the owner Chris—was incredible. They made everything so seamless! The staff that helped set up, served, and broke everything down were proactive and attentive, making sure everything flowed smoothly. I was a bit skeptical about paying for security at first, but let me tell you, it was worth every penny! Tom, the security guard on duty, was fantastic. He kept the uninvited out, while being super friendly and approachable. It really gave us peace of mind to know he was there looking out for us, he really made it worth it. The planning process was a breeze, and the team was more than accommodating. They helped me execute my vision perfectly, and when the big day arrived, everything went off without a hitch. I truly couldn’t have chosen a better place to celebrate this milestone. Thank you, Barley Beach House, for making this day so memorable for my family and friends. I can’t recommend this venue enough—money well spent!

Stopped at the Barley, because I thought it may have a nice view of the beach, which it did. However that’s where it ended. From disrespectful staff to watered down drinks to a very limey pasta and a friendly visit from baby Jerry. He left Tom behind it seemed. (For 80s babies) While sitting I saw our waitress asking the server to bring us water and he completely ignored us and serve the 2 tables around us, who just arrived after we did. When I inquired his response was,” it’s not my job to bring you people water”. They forgot the vodka in my Barley Mule, their version of the Moscow Mule. The shrimp pasta tasted as if they drowned it in lime juice, and the fish from the fish and chips was like dried fishy cardboard. All in all I do not recommend the place for food, but I Do think it’s overdue a visit from a health inspector. Sorry Jerry! The view of the beach is spectacular and the fire works display was quite pleasant. Other than that, a complete waste of $200.

I’m not a frequent online reviewer, but I’ll give it to you straight. Ambiance is decent for the sole fact your sitting by the beach; however, service is painfully slow and the food sub-par. You’d think for the location in Rye (and the prices they charge) you’d receive both a quality meal and overall experience. Unfortunately, not the case with Barley Beach House. My fiancée and I decided to try this place out based on the 4.2 rating it had on Google, but I can’t fathom why people would feel this restaurant deserved that high of a rating. Our reservation was at 7:30 on a Friday night. Once we were seated, we waited about 15 minutes for our server to come give us waters and take our drink order - not terrible, but I instantly got the understanding of how this experience was going to go. Especially since it really wasn’t overwhelmingly busy. After waiting that long just to be greeted and served a water, we ordered an appetizer to get the ball rolling. We continued to wait an entire hour to receive said appetizer, and then another 45 minutes for our entrees. Server was absent most the time and the empty glasses and dishes piled up on our table while bussers walked right by without a care. We didn’t even receive small plates for our appetizer. Literally ate off of a napkin… I could list a few more examples of the poor quality of service, but I think you can paint the picture. Only thing this place had right is getting alcoholic drinks delivered to you quickly (only thing that kept me from leaving). The staff was embarrassingly disorganized in that runners were coming out with handfuls of food/drinks not knowing which table it belonged to. I noticed they kept asking us and other guests if what they were attempting to deliver was theirs. Of course the typical response was “no.” After all that I’m not sure if this is due to the management’s poor leadership or just plain old negligence that resulted in how their staff operated. In summary - service is terrible, food not worth the price, bathrooms a mess and no hand soap. If you’re gonna go to this place, save yourself the disappointment and just sit at the bar and order drinks (beer or wine though since the mixed drink I ordered was weaker than the service - just sayin’). Better places to go to spend your...

Truly I don’t even know where to begin. The staff was friendly but so ridiculously slow. I had a party of 8 and it took 30 mins just to get water and another 10’mins to get ice for the water. The cups were filthy and the ice was dirty . The bathrooms were disgusting . Wet floor with dirty sink and toilets. Tissue all over the floor and hanging out of the garbage. That’s also ways a bad sign . We sat outside which was beautiful however the seating was super uncomfortable and unleveled. It was my mother’s birthday and I had to get up to get us napkins and cutlery as it was present or available on the table . I had to constantly search for my server and they didn’t even take out order even after i said we were ready our server walked away and started taking orders at another table. We were some of the only people of color there and were being ignored. Once the server came back we finally made our orders which were served undercooked. Chicken was barely cooked and the salmon was barely cooked . My aunts food didn’t event come out . I had a veggie beyond burder on a dry bun which appeared to be stale. The food wasn’t seasoned at all. My family members had salads which were just huge pieces of lettuce with too much dressing. Gross. I asked for the manager and at first he wanted to blame the lack of service by saying they thought we were waiting for more people to arrive which I already told the host up from that our party went from 12-8 so hot to worry about the size . I told her again and and then server once we sat down. They fed us in chipped plates that had sharp edges. The manager tried to make the situation nether by giving us chips and salsa and some pretzels which was nice gesture but simply too little too late. I wanted my moms bday cake lit they decided to bring on their own browni with a candle without talking to me first as our family member were on line for the restroom so we had to sing happy birthday twice which is weird. It also took forever to pay . 3.5...

Saturday night for four with reservation.

20$ spritzes - as much as an entree. Ok, fine. We ordered guac, shrimp, and calamari. The calamari was room temperature and dark brown almost burnt. The rest of the food was marginal quality. We ordered the clams/mussels dish and it should never have left the pass. The mussel shells looked like maybe at one point mussels lived there but they had all collectively abandoned ship long before they reached the plate. 28$ for this was criminal. Burgers come with 3$ upsell for pale undercooked fries... The food took too long to come out.

Wait staff came to our table with drinks and food that wasn't ours throughout the service. When our mains finally came, I had to flag the runner because he was at the wrong table. Our server was nice but clearly untrained in hospitality. Empty plates and drinks were never cleared.

When I called for the reservation, I knew that a band was playing in the gazebo for 107.1 peak, but the receptionist and 107 website told me the band was on the beach. The restaurant told me we could hear it from the patio. You couldn't hear it from the patio. The restaurant has some other music playing in the speakers instead of the live band they advertised! Why does 107.1 advertise the beach house and the beach when they are not at the beach house or the beach?

The highlight was the fireworks at 9:00pm but that has nothing to do with the restaurant. You could see them from the park. They lasted 15m and Rye does it every Friday and Saturday of the summer. We did have a nice view from our patio table.

TLDR; Avoid the restaurant. Disappointing food and service. Go to the park and picnic for...
