I've been to the casino 3 times so far, and I feel it's pretty good for the size of the area it's in. Some of the dealers are VERY inexperienced, unfortunately, I've had to be sure to check the math when they get a good hand at the blackjack tables. I have a few dealers who are VERY good at the job, and they are definitely NOT interested in the house winning, as they're always willing to give you a good piece of advice on what you should and shouldn't be doing, which is very helpful in the case of someone who's new to the game. The tables are ok, but they are not in the habit of an inexpensive table where you'd stand a chance to win a lot. I'm going to be a regular there, as I feel like there's no reason to be a high roller to stand a chance of winning big amounts of money. I'd like to say it is a few things shy of being a good experience all around though, as much as I like it. The 2 biggest problems with it, so far as I can see, from my somewhat limited time to explore the rest of the place, and lack of experience with the other casinos in the area, are the drinks. I have a hard time getting a comped drink, though I HAVE had them comped, but it was after I had spent about 8 or 9 hours at the same table, and I had won QUITE a bit more than I came in with. However, when I did start getting the free drinks, I was told by the waitress that the drinks were free, and I was actually supposed to be getting them free for a while already, she had given me the money I had spent on my drinks back to me, which was nice, but I'd rather know about the drinks being free when they are, not like 2 hours later. The second complaint, is a common one, from what I've seen in the reviews. The dealers are inexperienced to the point that I have to say that they've got the math wrong. As an example, I was playing last night, and the guy next to me had a good hand, and beat the dealer by a point, for a decent payout, but the dealer had called it a losing hand. It wasn't, and I corrected the dealer, and the guy got paid, but only after calling the pit boss over. The good dealers that are there, are looking to get you a win, and will often just about argue with you to get you the best chance of winning. It has its faults, but I'm pretty sure that they're going to get it in order before too long, and the experience...
Read moreI'll start my review with the hotel itself. The hotel is nice, clean & rooms are comfortable, clean & nice river views we had each time my husband & I stayed. We had been coming here as a fun rest stopover before continuing to our destinations. Everything was good until the recent stay. Now onto the casino. We arrived at night after dinner. Checked in, lugged our luggage up to our room & again nice & clean rooms. Hotel staff friendly. We go down to the casino go through security & enjoy our evening then head to our room for the night. We wake up in the morning, pack our belongings, bring our luggage down to our car in secured parking which is great btw. We decided to go get coffee before leaving & you have to go through the casino to the back to purchase it as there are no in room coffee makers or something more convenient outside the casino in the hotel area. We go through security & one of the guys waived us through then the other one with this accent & prob around late 50s/60s told me he wanted to see my id. I was actually startled because I was never asked for id whenever we came & we visited it often. Nor have I been asked forid at least 37 yrs! I took out my drivers license & because I'm auto immune compromised I told him I didn't want him to touch it esp after wiping his nose with his hand but I did put it right up to his face so he can see it since he didn't see my greying hair and aging skin. He didn't like that & copped a nasty attitude, military like & there was no need for that tude. He wouldn't let me in but let my husband in. The other guy just looked at him like for real?! When I asked for his name he wouldn't give it to me. He needs training on how to deal with guests & the public & how to spot guests who are 21 & younger. Hotel staff claimed that they are supposed to id anyone who looks 40 yrs & younger yet the signs say you have to be 21 & over. How about iding people who look 25 & younger & those who look suspicious instead of folks who are in the late 50s!!!! Way to make hotel guests welcomed NOT!! If he can't tell who is under 21 then get him a pair of glasses!!! I don't think we will ever return & will give our business to the other nice & larger casino/hotel...
Read moreChecked in around 8:30pm 8-27. Requested a late check out when we made the reservation on the phone but was told to request it at the front desk upon arrival. Checkin went smooth, the staff was friendly, the gentlemen who checked us in was very kind and was able to get us our requested late check out at 12pm the next day. The following morning around 11:20 I received a call from a lady at the front desk asking why we have not vacated the room yet. I stated that we had a late check-out for 12. The lady (ALEXIS) stated that she did not have that in her system and that they were not offering late check-outs and demanded us to vacate the room. I told her that we had asked on the phone and confirmed it with the gentlemen that we checked in with that it was ok to leave at 12pm. She asked what his name was and I told her I did not know but my husband might have asked his name- but he did not know either and was in the middle of finishing his shower (because we were getting ready to leave). So I told Alexis that I apologize we did not know his name and asked her if she was able to see it from her end. She then continued to say yes she knew his name but couldn’t disclose that to me because my name was not on the card that paid for the room. So I had to pull my husband out of the shower because she was literally demanding that we vacate the room right then and there.
When we went downstairs to sort out what happened, Alexis was very upfront and confrontational. Not to mention super unprofessional in the way that she spoke to my husband and me. She kept interrupting me and raising her voice (when I tried to speak she cut me off and told me she wasn’t talking to me and only to my husband who was standing right next to me). In the end, she was WRONG and said that she had confirmed with the gentleman who gave us the late checkout after she had called us continually and harassed us about vacating the room. I’ve never meet such an unprofessional lady and it completely ruined our experience staying at the hotel. We will be going there to play poker and that’s it. We will never be staying in the...
