The good: The hotel was clean, comfortable and spacious. We got food from the breakfast bistro that was good and 99% of the staff was friendly and helpful. I’ll hit the 1% in the bad.
The bad: Beware of the 4:30 am train on the roadside every morning. Best to get riverside room. The pool was closed randomly with no signage. Bummer for kids who got bathing suits on and excited to jump in! The biggest issue I had with this hotel was Tyler from the front desk. While I was outside enjoying time with other mothers, a group of rowdy young 20 year olds entered the premises from the outside. The began yelling crude obscenities at the girls they were with as well as the women I was with. When I approached the front desk for help, Tyler was working. I told him about the incident and he followed me outside. When he saw the culprits he said “it’s fine they are my friends.” I found this completely unacceptable as they were not paying customers who were in fact threatening paying patrons of the hotel. He did nothing to rectify the situation. He allowed them to stay with no repercussion and dismissed my plea for help after being verbally assaulted. I felt very unsafe being there with other mothers and children. I called Marriott headquarters to report the incident and Tyler’s lack of concern. The next day, Tyler was back working his shift. I guess Marriott doesn’t care about the safety of it’s paying guests. Just have to be friends of Tyler and it all gets swept under the rug. You failed us Marriott and most importantly...
Read moreWe checked in late nearly 8 p.m. after driving all day from upper Maine. Both my husband and I were exhausted. After unpacking our things we were going to go right to bed. My pillowcase had black marks and stains on it. Deciding to take a quick shower and then go to the front desk for a new one, I went to the bathroom. There was a hole in the wall of our shower, hair on the floor in the shower and beside the toilet. The floor of the shower had obviously not been cleaned. I had taken pictures of the shower wall and went down to the desk for a new pillowcase reporting the uncleanliness of the bathroom and the hole in the shower wall. The girl was very helpful offering for us to change rooms but at the lateness of the hour and our need to be up and traveling back to Ohio we declined. The thought of moving all of our things to another room was too much. My husband was upset later telling me that the toilet seat was filthy underneath and made him quite disgusted. He hadn't said anything because he didn't want to upset me knowing how tired we were and that I was already dealing with getting new linen and reporting the shower. Neither of us were able to take a shower and using the toilet disgusting.
We opted to spend the money on the room based upon the reputation of Courtyard. After this experience, I will not recommend this hotel. The location area is under heavy construction that starts at 7:30 a.m. and the...
Read moreGreat stay right near her casino. We stayed for 2 nights and got a good nights sleep each night. Place is very well kept (neat and tidy) and staff was super courteous and helpful. We did not get a chance to discover the while hotel such as the poor and fitness area. The lobby is very upscale and elegant.
So why not 5 stars?.. well to be honest the shower head was a hot mess it leaked water everywhere, I practically had to do flood containment in the bathroom with clean towels after turning the shower on. The iron was disgusting, I had to iron a shirt and would not dare put that iron on my clothes to have whatever is on it transfer to my clothes. The lights above the bed is a cool feature but it’s not practical, there’s no way to dim them and they are insanely bright. Laying in bed when them on is like having the sun directly over your head. Look up and you get blinded. And lastly there was no explanation or conversation from the staff about breakfast options. I’ve stayed at many hotels since COVID started and each one made an attempt to serve their guests breakfast weather it was sandwiches or breakfast in a bag or whatever. It’s the thought and attempt that counts here.
We will definitely stay here again as it’s close to family.. maybe the next stay is better and I can change this review...
