This is an honest review, not an attack on your business. This retro game store is a collectors dream at first absolutely amazing library of games from past to the current generation, they have tons of in-demand video games (original Pokémon games for the Gameboy and advance, huge gamecube, snes, N64, nes collections with tons of highly valued games which many collectors look for). The problem is, they have so many and no one is buying them and it’s because of the pricing. I wanted to purchase a copy of Super Mario Bros 3 for NES, and who I presume to be the employee or owner told me it would be 30 bucks, way overpriced and that’s almost double the actual value of the game (please check prices with price charting websites, those are actual market value). Super Mario bros 3 had so many copies behind the glass and it’s because nobody is going to overpay for a game they can easily buy for far cheaper on any other website such as eBay. The glass containers storing the video games is locked, so you can’t check for condition of the games and see what’s complete in box or not. There’s also no prices on the games, so you have to ask the employees to unlock or ask for the prices. The employees are also an issue, there was this gentleman who seemed like he really didn’t want to be there and was extremely unwelcoming with questions, I wanted to know prices about many of there games but I felt uncomfortable because of the attitude of the workers. I’ve been a collector for many years so I know how a retro video game business should operate to run successfully and this is just a poor store for collectors. I would suggest showing prices and making the game more accessible to see condition. I would also encourage genuinely doing more research on market prices to have people actually take the desired games off the shelf, it’s fine to have a markup on prices but the pricing is just too much here. Some positives about the store is that it’s a dream to see the quantity of high quality and desired video games here. Other then that, unless there’s a change in the pricing and attitude I do not see myself coming back here often, and if the owner is reading this, I hope you don’t just call me a broke dumb kid who has no idea what he’s talking about because all the reviews from collectors are saying the exact points that I’m saying and there’s a reason you have so many rare games on your shelves...
Read moreMy intent in this review is not malicious I am just sharing my experience. Right off the bat there are no prices marked so you have to ask for a price, which is always a clunky and uninviting experience. I had to request an employee individually go through and tell me the prices on around 30 different items, which are not definitive values but made up through browsing ebay, and almost all of which ended up being quoted at 20% or more above eBay current listings (not even sold, but current listed as in still for sale), and not because of condition/rarity or any other understandable reason.. what incentive do I have as a consumer to drive to your store and buy a game if I can get it shipped to my house for significantly less? I'm not above paying out to help a small business but this is a little ridiculous especially in this economy. More of a collection on display than a store. The inventory is phenomenal but the prices are basically convention prices with no wiggle room. I see all these 4&5 star reviews and I'm genuinely curious if the shop used to be good and something changed.. I've been collecting for decades and been to just about every store in the tri state and this has to be one of the first that I couldn't even bring myself to buy something. Again if this was a video game museum or collection on display I'd give it 4 or 5 stars, but as a store I have to give my honest feedback and hope the owner considers my experience. I likely will not return and I will share my experience with...
Read moreHands down the best gaming store I've been too. The only store that will still take your old games, toys, collectibles, and systems for a fair price. Not only is it fair, but they do way better than GAMESTOP. If you still have those retro games and toys from the 80s,90s,early 2000s that gamestop stopped taking yrs ago, you can still get great value for them. If you were one of those people who liked that one random game that wasn't popular, they have it. The staff is incredible, laid back, and very proactive in meeting consumer's needs. Even if its something that's seems almost impossible to fix, Tito the engineer goes finds a way to get it up and running again. The staff always helps find even the most rarest of games as they literally have a huge library of games for each platform. For the very few negative reviews below, they are hustlers who are trying to make a quick buck for something they know has no value. They don't understand how a business runs and the shop doesn't exist for their own benefit, it's for the owner too. Just because they spent 60 bucks on a worthless sports game in 2005 doesn't mean they will even get 75 percent of that almost two decades later. And to those who also complain how they can get it cheaper at eBay, I doubt its original and kept in the condition MIKE does. Mike sells and buys at competitive prices and proves it too. If you looking for a great experience and acquire a taste of nostalgia at awesome prices, this is the...
