Liberty Park has nice grass areas for play and nice wide sidewalks for walking/ jogging. It has a nice pond with a wooden trail to walk around it. The dog park is pretty nice. It is not open for everyone. You have to register to use it and get a code, which is probably a good idea. They make sure that the dogs in there are up to date on shots and such. The dog water fountain is getting old and needs attention. It only has one playground that was probably way nice years ago, but it is run down and needs a serious upgrade. They could put in more smaller playgrounds around the other ends of the park, along with restrooms. It has only one exercise station and it could also use a clean up and paint. They should spread out the exercise equipment along the walk ways though. Goose poop is a common sight, so just keep a lookout. My biggest issue is the restrooms. They have two public restrooms for the large park. One by the playground and one by the dog park. There is one at the boat docks, but only boat people can use ot. During crowded park days there are always lines. The other issue is that it is often left locked, especially in the colder months. I have seen people going to the bathroom on the grass and in bushes, because of this. They need to put in at least 2 more public bathrooms and they need to be opened from dawn to dusk, same as...
Read moreCan't fish from the river bank in the only places you can get to the river bank. That stretch of river is apparently limited to Chads with jet skis and pontoon boats. It's unclear whether you can fish the marina from the bank. I've seen mixed results for this question online and the official answer isn't published anywhere. The little pond is so pressured that there may be a couple of small fish in it, but you're probably not going to hook any. I've never seen anyone pull one out with my own two eyes.
Pro tip: Leave the geese alone. There's no reason to feed them. If you're going to feed them, don't feed them bread. Google why this is bad for them. Be prepared to wait for them to cross the road. If there's a large group of them (there were over a hundred of them today), it may take a minute. They aren't in a hurry and you shouldn't be either. Honking your horn like an impatient idiot just lets everyone know that you're an impatient idiot and it bugs everyone else at the park. You are not the main character.
The rest of the park is fine, but unless you have a boat, don't waste your time here for fishing. Even if you do have a boat, you can drop in here (the dock is massive) and then skedaddle somewhere away from the grown children with...
