I enjoy this Brookshire Brothers for several reasons. Every time I've been by t's always stocked, organized, & there's always a friendly employee close by if I need to ask where something is located or to answer any other questions I may have. I've been several times & it's never overly packed or has long ridiculous lines. There's no self checkout, usually 1 to 2 registers open, and if there happens to be more than 3 or 4 people in line they quickly notice & open an additional register. Everyone is extremely friendly & helpful. Last week I walked in & the young lady & man immediately saw that I was having some type of issue with my eye. Not only did they ask if I was okay, but the young man was quick to offer me a napkin. Most stores have employees that wouldn't notice, let alone offer any aid or help. So that was very much appreciated. For the past year that I've been stopping in, the same young lady has been working the main register (I'm sure the young man has been there just as long, whether I came into contact with him or not) & are fast when ringing me up & making sure my groceries are all sacked by category before I'm done paying. The store is obviously older, but always clean....which is clearly one main thing you want from a place you purchase your food from. I hate cooking so I'm VERY THANKFUL for their fresh hot meals that can be purchased by the vegetable department. My husband stops in often, again.....I'm not the cook by any means....& gets an extremely tasty home-cooked meal in which has large portions. Again, VERY THANKFUL for this since I'm sure he'd like to eat someone else's cooking other than his own from time to time. The prices are higher, as any local store with a jam packed Walmart &/or HEB around the corner, but Brookshire Brothers is very convenient. One item that is not priced higher is their Blue Bell Ice Cream. They always have it stocked with all of the latest flavors & more! I'm definitely a Blue Bell addict & one that checks prices. Blue Bell half gallons run $6.49 each, same or lower than elsewhere, & they run a 2 for $11 sale pretty often. Clearly this is my main reason for stopping in so much, lol. They have a pharmacy & customer service area, & everyone working those departments are also very helpful & friendly as well. Overall, I highly recommend this Brookshire Brothers if buying food items, prefer friendly & helpful employees, as well as want to be in & out quickly.
This review was written on 10/11/20 during the pandemic so please know this final statement made by me is concerning this time only & would not be incorporated in my review if covid 19 was not an issue/didn't exist ALL employees wear a mask during this time bc it is mandatory. So it's good to know that when I come shop here I don't have to worry about an employee not following the rules. I guess my only complaint is that they don't say anything to customers who come in without a mask. It's NOT just Brookshire Brothers that doesn't seem to enforce the rule at this time, but most stores in the area. This is something I don't understand, especially with customers who are around the food you're purchasing. If wearing a mask is stated as mandatory on the door upon walking in, please enforce it. Clearly our government is clueless about what's right & wrong concerning the pandemic, so why not do the safe thing & not only follow the rules if you're a customer, but enforce the rules if you are an employee. I'm well aware that you cannot make someone do something they choose not to, but mandatory means you must do it......so make it clear! Trust me, I hate wearing a mask, let alone getting all the way to the door before realizing I have to go back to the car bc I forgot mine, but I still follow the rules during this time. At least we KNOW wearing a mask won't kill us or...
Read moreIf I could rate a 0 star, I would. Managers are creeps, so are most the old men there. Several of Brookshire Brother's female employees feel severely uncomfortable while the management (ie. Mr. Higgins) stares at them, and I can't blame them, I'd be uncomfortable too. Not to mention how many of the older men flirt with the female employees while knowing some of the girls are underage. Not to mention Mr Higgins making a female employee cry, over a lie he created due to him not listening to his coworkers. There shouldnt be creeps or weirdos like this, yet there has been for years.
Not to mention how poor the food quality is, from meat to other "fresh" produce. Moldy tomatoes, rotten steak and more.
You couldn't pay me to shop here.
Poor quality food, unacceptable creepy management and employees, and a disgusting store overall.
WOMEN just know the men there are 100% creeps. There's even something called a "smash list" which has the names of several young females that work there on it.. Brookshire Brother's, you need to correct what you have allowed. Unacceptable,...
Read moreThis store stinks so bad. Like it actually stinks like rotting rats. I don't see how employees can stand it. And it isn't a one-off thing. For at least the last 3 years, it always smells just like this. I only come in here if HEB is sold out of what I'm looking for. Every item I picked up on the bread aisle was out of date by a week or more. The meat case is full of brown and spoiling meat. The tomatoes are growing mold in their packaging. Much of the fruit was spoiled and soft. This place is so gross. Reading through other reviews I've realized, this store has been stinking and people have been complaining about the smell for more than 4 years. So I don't expect that to change. But also, I forgot to add how incredibly expensive their prices are compared to any other store. (The one positive I can say about this store is they carry Voleman's milk.)
Years later, what is going on with the constant and mostly grey...
