My husband and I moved to Cleveland a couple of months ago and noticed the parking lot here is usually pretty full, so we were hoping to find a local gem. Well, I can say that the food is really good. I had their breakfast burger, and husband had the pulled pork baked potato. The pulled pork wasn't the most tender we've had when we've ordered pulled pork elsewhere, but the flavor was good. The restaurant itself, however, leaves so much to be desired. First, it's hot inside. The building is older, so it's okay to have wall- and window-mounted air conditioning, but their units are not keeping the dining room very cool, and it's extremely humid inside. This leaves all the surfaces sticky, which we thought at first was just the moisture in the air, but no. The table, the chair backs, even the condiment bottles were all not very clean and sticky from prior use. There were flies everywhere, and God help you if you're sitting at a table by the windows because those are fly graveyards that don't look like they've been cleaned in weeks. Dead flies on the window sills and live flies trying to get your food...it was an experience. And then you throw in the state of the a/c units being covered in grime and mold. As tasty as the food was, the state of the dining room left us wondering about the kitchen. It's sad, really, because this is what we keep finding in so many Cleveland mom & pop businesses: Old, dilapidated buildings that aren't being maintained or cleaned, and customers leave feeling like they need a shower. I don't think we will be going back, and that makes me so sad because the food really is very good, especially for this area where even the fast food is sub-par. Prices for their plates are reasonable, too. But the dining room...we just can't get past the sticky surfaces, mold, and...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI think this place is hit or miss! We were there for the 1st time several weeks ago, and the food was excellent. But we went in there last night for a quick dinner and the service was lacking, the food was not great, and the menus needed a good wiping down with soap and a disinfectant. I was afraid to touch it, that's how nasty they were. The floor was dirty with food crumbs, the window blinds were full of dust and grime, the chairs needed a good cleaning. The cooks in the kitchen were not the same as the 1st time we were there, I assume that's why the food was not that good. I always think that no one can mess up a burger, but the tomatoes were not chilled and so they were limp and runny, the onions were not fresh so they also were limp and so thin you couldn't even taste the onion. I got 1 piece of lettuce leaf on my burger. The 'light mayo' I asked for was a blob of mayo in the center of the bun, so it made its way out the bun to the outside when the bun broke, and I held it in my hands the whole time because it was falling apart. The French fries are toothpick thin, so they got hard pretty quick. They were greasy and not tasty at all. The waitress was running around all over the place like crazy, she was obviously too busy to handle the work load, but the other girl working the counter was on her phone alot, and she could have been helping the waitress so that we didn't have to ask twice for a refill of our drinks. I was pretty disappointed with this place this time! The whole place needs a good...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI had an incredibly disheartening experience at D and M due to the appalling behavior of one particular waitress. Her disrespectful and rude demeanor, especially towards a senior citizen, left me deeply disappointed.
From the moment we were seated, it was evident that the waitress had no regard for basic courtesy. She displayed a dismissive attitude, making us feel unwelcome. However, the most distressing part was her treatment of a senior citizen in our group. Instead of showing empathy, she was insensitive, using a patronizing tone and disregarding their requests.
Throughout the meal, her conduct remained unprofessional. She interrupted conversations with an attitude, made sarcastic remarks, and displayed impatience while taking our orders. This created an uncomfortable and hostile environment.
The disrespectful and rude behavior of the waitress was completely unacceptable. No customer, especially a senior citizen, should be subjected to such treatment. I sincerely hope the restaurant takes immediate steps to address this issue and reevaluates its customer service training.
In conclusion, my experience at D and M was marred by the disrespectful conduct of the waitress, particularly towards a senior citizen. I strongly urge the management to address this matter promptly and ensure that such incidents do not occur...
